Does it really need it? By that I mean have you had the cam timing measured properly and found that it's off by a good ammount?

ive got a 1600 8v engine with a vernier on it, you will av to know how to time it up if your putting one of them on

Just set it to zero and stick it on whilst changing the belt then. Then get the engine set up properly.

(Setting it to zero will put it to the standard timing)

yeah i know its got to be timed up... but to get it spot on do you getting the timing on the dizzy spot on then fit it to zero or best left to a rolling road day?

To get it spot on you have to measure how much lift is being given at certain degrees of rotation of the crank, Type camshaft timing into a web search and you should get some fairly long-winded descriptions of the process.

To just fit it in place of the standard one, time up the engine with the standard marks, remove old pulley, fit new one so that the marks still line up and with the adjustable bit at zero (locktite on the bolts and make sure they're tight) and thats it.
