EDIT: I'm feeling generous today, Stoo won't like it, but here you go,

Bearing in mind the age of the shells nowadays, I'd say with any more power than a slightly tuned GSi, or regular track abuse go for the plating kit on top.

Basicaly if you're worried enough about the front end pulling itself apart to stitch it, where's the harm in reinforcing areas that were identified as weak spots 20 years ago? (other than to the wallet).

Providing the metal on the shell is still in good condition and you are keeping the small block engine there is no reason to plate it, stitch welding will suffice.

I agree totally! No need for a plting kit if the metal is in good condition and its not being rally'd

austin pretty much hit the nail on the head at the end of his reply. if your going to go stage rallying through forestry events etc then a plating kit would be handy. for general road use and occasional trackday use a decent STITCH weld is more than sufficient. There are some area's that a seam weld would be better (can be seen on my pics) but the general theme is stitch weld.

Seam welding throughout the bay in my eyes is a nono. Plating kits have become one of these things that people fit because its percieved as the 'done' thing. But then people waste alot of money on things that are not necessary but must be good as others have them :tard: keeps the money makers rolling along i suppose lol
