1.6 EGR hole

iam away from my 1600 head and cannot measure the hole to get a tap. has a someone got a diameter of the EGR hole so i can find suiting tap to plug hole. something close to BSP/NPT i cannot remember what size it is close to. maybe 1/4 NPT or there abouts. if i have the diameter i can find a suiting/close tap. failing that i may have to ream it out and press in a piece of turned aluminium.
anyone help a friendly nova person?

please can someone look at their hole and measure it. if it is not big enough i will ream it out and fit a big plug to fill it to stop the waste gas venting from my new flange.

Dont have one to measure, but id guess around a M10 tap

its about 10mm size but its to big to tap M10. id prefer a taper plug like an NPT if posdibly. il have a look at my tapping drill sizes if i have a hole size.

I'd drill it out for M12 if the holes too big for M10, with a tapered thread you run a fairly high risk of cracking the head to pieces if you over-tighten it.

Just plate the hole in the inlet manifold, its easier.

i cant plate it as im not using the std inlet manifold ;). i could use my new flange on my manifold to block it but id rather it was plugged. i dont think you would crack it with a tapered thread if you are sensible, there is a lot of wall thickness. afterall, it doesnt have to hold back any/much pressure.

The hole takes an M12 tap just fine.

we normally turn up a tapered alloy plug and press it in the hole.
