Cavalier GSI wheels
The 'j' denotes how wide in inches the rim is.
6.5 is the max you wanna go really and as close to 49 ET as you can.

Don't forget that wheels can be machined down to a more friendly offset.
Although how much you can safely take off will depend on the wheel design.

No, the J refers to the type of lip on the edge of the rim. The width is stated in inches, i.e. 6.5J is a 6.5" wide wheel with a "J" style lip.

My 1st aftermarket wheels were Team Dynamics 6.5Jx15" Monzas with Yoko 195/45/15 A539 tyres.
They went straight on my GSi with no arch mods or rubbing ever.

If using a GM 15" wheel from a Cavalier or mk3 Astra etc they are 6"J wide.
Sorry to thread jack, but its better than starting a whole new thread
Ive got some 6J wheels with an ET of 38, would they stick far out of the arches?
The car is a mk1 loon BTW (i cant physically try them as ive not picked the car up yet ;) )

in the paperwork it mentions arches rolled and pulled ,which id imagine was to allow the wheels to fit ??

Should fit fine, both myself and Ash used to run et38 wheels although that was on a hactchback.
^ as above, ET38's are sound and IMHO handle better too.

from my personal experiance, i find et49 handle better, than the wrong ofset wheels i had on an old nova..

Me too.
imo i would always stick as close to 45-49mm offset on wheels for a nova going no bigger 6.5j.
I've tried 38,42 and 49mm offset's with 49mm being the best.
Coolio
Well i wont be doing any track days in it (only a 1.2, for now) so i just wanted to know i wont need any arch work doing :thumb:
Although saying that, it will be going quite close to the deck, so i`ll have to get the arch roller out :tard:
