IIRC a cavalier GSi FWD has an F20 yes?

If so, and the car was a 1989/1990 spec GSi, would the box need to come off for to change the clutch?

Is so, then fair do's.

But if not, how is it done, and whats the 'tool' needed to move the shaft to release the clutch?

Any tips?

Cheers

You might get lucky and not need a slide hammer to release the input shaft. You will need something to clamp the pressure plate with someone pressing the clutch pedal in the car otherwise it doesn't fit through the hole in the bottom of the gearbox.
