Centre Console also ciggie lighter

I've got a mk1 merit and was wondering if the bit i've seen in other nova's under the ashtray that has the little tape storage bit and a tray will slot straight into mine or maybe even a mk2 tray without the tape storage?
Also I haven't got a cigarette lighter in mine, is it just a case of fidning the wiring for it and connecting it up to a cigarette lighter from a breakers yard? or is it more complicated than that?

if your mk1 doesnt have a tape holder unit around the gear stick then you can fit a km1 or mk2 one (mk1 imo better at it joins up to the dash).
Its only held in by a screw under a panel in the tape holder section - just fit it over your gear knob, clip it under the dash and screw in - the hole is already there under your carpet!

As for fag lighter - your dash will prob gave a black blanking grommet where the lighter should go (dashes came as standard and the bit were just added depending on the model - if not added a blanking grommet was fitted). Should be easy to wire up as all the behind the scenes fixtures to bolt it to will be there.
Just get a 2nd hand one from a scrappy. As for wiring - depends on your model - haynes reference guides are pretty easy to follow (?) for wiring...
