ok i was just wondering if you could help me out here , im trying to remove the front speakers in my mk 2 ive taken off the cover over the clocks to see if i could get anywhere but the plastic that my lights switches is moving a bitt but it just does not want to budge , any ideas and quicker ways to get at them would be great thanks . Nath
Remove the dash lol
No, seriously. Aside from that, remove the bit surrounding the headlamp switch - there's a screw in behind the headlamp switch itself. You need a couple of L shaped bits of metal to remove it as there's two tangs sat behind it. Haynes manual has a couple diagrams iirc.

Alot of people once the dash speakers go turn to ripping them out and fitting bigger and better ones in the doors instead.
Have you thought of doing this instead?
pull the black vents of they just clip in iirc... ivejust cut holes in mine and put tweeters in there.. can get a pic if you like?
Novalad has a point, for once lol
Lots of effort for little gain tbh

I have a feeling you need to remove the switch bit first - rotate the switch to the middle position (sidelights), pull it out (as if to turn interior light on), and underneath is a little tang which you can get at with a small screwdriver to pull the switch off. Once thats out the way, you can get a couple of thin L shaped brackets around the body of the switch and release the tangs to pull the body of the switch out.
