View Full Version : omegas... turbo?
just been pondering today, im buying an omega at the weekend for daily driving and im just wondering does anyone no of any turbo ones? id say that the saab 2.5 v6 turbo engine would be easy fit same gearbox and maybe an omega v6 sump?? i think it would be a class yoke! anyone know what year and models those engines came in?
a 3.0 V6 has more power than a 2.5 V6T though... the saab turbos are low output due to heat issues
ahh, but arent the internals good for more power? be different anyway! im sure with some nice mods it would crack 220bhp?
I think one of the vectras on the local kroooze site is a V6 with ~210bhp.
Supercharge it :D
no idea on the internals, BUT as said, its the heat issue that kills them.
Ever seen in an omega engine bay? A surprising lack of space in there for such a big ass car. It gets very very hot under there as an N/A let alone with a turbo there to cook the head
ah now thatll cost too much plus ive a turbo hankering at the moment! would just love to see a nice omega, no one seems to do them up! heres a clas one, pity bout the bonnet. lotus carlton wheels!

a 2.5 v6 can be quite easilly be tweeked to achieve 200 + bhp ..
a 3 litre will offer a lot more torque though .....
lack of room ??? only area id say is limited space would be access to the dispack ..
heres mine not.... im interested in big spoilers etc just decent handling and strong power .. ...

turbo omega ....now thats what im talking about all the old e30 are being done now with m5b 3.6 plus a huge turbo and there no problem with over heating .
surley if you have a big bonnet scoup and open the front end up a bit direct air feed and twin kenlows should sort it .
drop the compression wack a t3 on see what happens , would need a manuel for maximum control

It's not cooked by the heat under the bonnet, It's the water cooling of the engine isn't sufficient. Usually melts one of the pistons (6 i think?) It has been done, but there has to be new waterways machined in. Would be good fun?
What about the LS1 or LS2 from a Monaro? They fit, American versions of the Omega come with a V8
Also there are a few examples of sticking in a Lotus Carlton engine with excellent results!!
