View Full Version : engine in the boot of a saloon?
I need to pick my engine up soon any wonderd if t can fit in the boot of my saloon:confused: Has anyone else ever done this. Its a 1.6 8v with the gearbox aswell
me and dan managed to put the 1.6 8v i bought off him into the boot of my hatchback with the rear seats still up!lol.so im pretty sure it will fit in to a saloon with the gearbox
Yea but i was thinking about angle ect of getting it in. As its not like the hatch were you can just place it into the boot if you get me
if they were seperate maybe
Yea i might have to do that but dont really want to if i can help it
From memory of seeing Ash's engine, it should fit if you put it sideways, the 1.6 engine isn't that big.
Might be worth removing the spare wheel to give you a little more depth. Remember on the Saloon you can't flat the rear seats out due to the rear bulkhead, but the boot should be long enough.
Ah cheers bud ill do that then. Hopefully i can get it out easyly enough aswell
im going to say no as altho the boot is huge on a saloon the opening isn't, one solution however is to remove the passenger seat and put it there!!! like so

Pish! If a Honda Integra Engine fits in the boot of Corsa, im sure you'll find a way of fitting an 8v into a saloon lol
well ill see soon as im picking it up tomorrow, So if it dont fit ill blaime you lol
I'd do as burgo says, will only take a few seconds to remove the seat and you know it will defo fit.
if you stick it in the boot, the front wheels may lift off the ground......
I would separate the engine & box, drain the oil from both, tape them up to stop any nasty leaks & do like burgo says. stick the engine in the seat well & the box in the boot
Well ive picked it up and what a job. The guy in the garage said it would 100% go in the boot, So went and dropped it in to find out not the best fit lol

This is the most it would go in
it looks like a skoda estelle
Wrong way!
Unbolt the inlet, and put it in cam first with the bottom end at the "back" of the car. I bet it would fit in then :thumb:

Yea that was a option but i didnt want to scratch the chrome lol. But now i cant get it out so dont know what to do. Might go and rent a engine lift tomorrow and see if that does it
