got a set of calipers and disks of a 2.0 cav and ive cleaned them up and had them in the soaker thing at a mates work and hes told me i may need to replace the piston seals??? how the hell do i do this and do you think i need to? there all in pieces. cheers in advance :thumb:

Depends whats in 'your mates soaker thing' could've started to rot the seals, probly worth doing anyway seeing as there already in bits.
Not a huge job to do anyway, just push the pistons out (use a punch thru the hole for the hose bolt to push piston out), dust boot will come off with the piston and the main seal will be still in the caliper, you'll be able to get seal kits from a local motor factor.

When puttng them back together don't use anything other than brake fluid as lubricant.

any ideas were i can get the seal kits? ive tryed all the auto parts supliers in the area and non do them! is the a good website?

i cnt seem to find them anywere on the internet? ive found kits for various fords and lotus caltons but no cavaliers.

I'm gonna say no, they seem to be listed for a 85 1.8 Astra, which isn't the same caliper as the 16v unit

cheers for that mate ill have to ring them monday, has anybody else do this to there calipers?

Done it many a time, always got the bits from a local Vaux dealer

I mite be doing this soon as I have a sticky standard caliper on my Nova. Got ATE calipers to go on my piston looks a bit brown and the seals will need a change.

If you could take a few pics whilst refurbing the seals would be nice will help me on my way when doing mine.
