Side lights are fused for each side of the car if i remember right, so could be a fuse there.

Hazzards could be a faulty relay.

Main earths on a nova are,
1. Battery to bodyshell, strands of the cable do break easily at either end.
2. Gearbox to nearside chassis, well known for breaking down due to corrosion from rain and roaad-salt.
3. Alternator to inlet manifold, again, well known for breaking down, mainly due to either repeated belt adjustments or vibration.
4. Wiring loom to nearside chassis in engine bay, above gearbox, near the ignition coil. I've had one where the captive nut has corroded causing a bad earth.
