View Full Version : round port inlet manifold
can anyone tell what novas were fitted with a round port inlet manifold as i need one and not were to look.
The 1600 injection engines (E16SE and C16SE) were round port inlets.
anything non injection as its to fit a carb.

None of the carbed small blocks had round inlet ports, they were either cathedral or square.
Round-port manifolds are available if you're fitting T40's or bike carbs though, but sadly, not for any other style of carb.
the reason i ask is my mate races a vauxhall nova and is building another nova for the track, the engine is a 1.4 sr and is being rebuilt and tuned, the guy who is doing the work said to him that a round port inlet manifold would work best and get the most performanc from it.

Would the new build be subject to any restrictions on engine work due to the series it's going to run in, or would it be a simple weekend track-day toy?
If it is to be run in a recognised series, most have rules regarding what can and can't be done tuning wise.

does it require you to use a standard carb? If not you can use twin carbs an use a nova 1600 manifold which is round
