View Full Version : Where to buy...
...a 4 paddle Helix Paddle Clutch?
I'm normally good at finding stuff but this seems a little troblesome to find. Any one point me in the right direction, or maybe even suggest a similar product. I spoke to RD's at Autosport and the one they do is a (Valeo) 3 paddle or as he said 'an on/off switch'
Just to check, a corsa 1.6 16? 200mm clutch will fit a nova 1.6 8v?
Cheers
I dont think they do a 4 paddle item for small block Nova's do they?
From searching google it comes up on a lot of spec sheets, plus I think its what Dan and Tom run.
Just looked myself, yes you can get a 4 paddle clutch for a Nova, OMP make them :thumb:
saw them actually, didn't really give them a second look really, there not really clutch makers and the price seemed a bit to cheap for it to be good.

Ash, I was lucky and found mine 2nd hand, just had to get it re-lined and yes, you want a 200mm one if using a Nova 1600 8v flywheel.
I'm sure Dan's is/was the Helix 4 paddle version, maybe PM him? I'll have a browse for you and post something if I find anything.

Awesome Tom! Cheers. Bit more money than I budgeted, but its fine lol
Yep i ran the helix 4 paddle clutch. Great bit of kit just make sure you get a decent/matching cover for it !!!!!!!!
I had mine replated recently (just browsing reciept) and it cost me ?44 to replate it with an additional ?160 for a decent cover. I got that sorted directly through helix so it saved any hassle of a middle man.

*cough* you need to change your avatar Dan lol
I've just been looking at it and wondering have far I'd get using a GM cover with the 4 paddle plate. Has anyone run like this before? I wanted to do it all in one go, plate and cover, but money is tight again this month and I need to put the engine in soon and this is the only thing holding me up.
Thinking out loud, it would probably only be for the running in period anyway...

No probs pal, I bet Helix may be a little cheaper too!
Errmm, I wouldn't advise using a standard cover with a paddle plate tbh, never heard of it done before and sounds a bit bodgey. I appreciate its expensive but IMO worth waiting a until you have more funds. Are you getting your engine L&B? If you are, then you would to get the whole lot done again if changing the cover.
Surely it would make sense to only do things once and properly the first time?

Would if you had the budget/patience.
I've emailed Helix today asking about the use of standard cover with their plate, so waiting on responce. Probably be a no. I can see its not ideal, but everything is sat in the garage waiting for a clutch, I have 3 standard one sat about but that would be a waste of time...
Slightly confused about the L&B question, but I might not be up to speed on this - I had my crank and flywheel lightened and balanced at the same time, I thought that was it... surely the clutch cover can only sit in one place?

You do get slight variations in the balancing of the cover plate too, hence a few people like to have the crank, flywheel and complete clutch all bolted together for balancing, it might be worth something in time/response at high levels of motorsport, but for a largely road-based or occasional track-day car I can't see any gain.
If you get/find one listed to a 16 16v watch its not for a pot fly as the cover wont fit a flat fly :)
