Whats this wire? Black/yellow

looking round the engine bay of my 2.0 (originally 1.3sr) i found a wire. It is black with a yellow strip. I have disconnected all of the wires as i am taking the engine out. I though i recorded everything but looking thru my notes and pics i cant find where it came from. Also, i have a mk1 1.0 and that dont appear to have the wire. Do i need it for the 2.0? What is it?

theres anther way,put the engine in the new car and just see wha connection has got any wires onit

i think its something to do with the autochoke becuz it was never connected on my sr which originally had an autochoke but was converted!!!


u dont need it anyway!

cant trace it back cos it taped up with all the other wires so unless i expose the whole loom i aint never gunna find it. I'll worry about it when the time comes.

the black/yellow wire connects to your autochoke, it did this on my old sr engine, and the 1 b4 that just had the wire loose when i swapped them over as it was manual choke.

so i defo dont need it on the 2.0i 8v then?

no not unless u wanna ever run it with an autochoke!!!
just wrap the wire up and put some tap around it. never know if u mite ever need 1!!

it's just a switched live... i traced it on my loom when i modded it to 2.0 16v spec
