thanks to every one ho help me on how long it takes to go up,
but i need to test it,without runnin the car,
so is there away of making it think its getting hot?

sorry maybe i wasnt very clear,
ive tested the fan by jus disconting the themostac in the rad.and the fan works.
but i need to test the dail on the dash,
and i dont mean taking the clocks out,
i mean i want to test it with the wireing assembled,
ive seen this thing on the inlet manuifold but i dunno weather thats it,
help i need it tested,
and it cant be run because the zorst its getting sorted

Isn't the bit on the manifold for the brakes?

there is a thermostatic sensor in your inlet manifold. looking into engine bay on left hand side of the manifold (there is a blue wire coming from it)
take the wire off and remove the sensor,(10mm i think) then reconnect the wire and immerse the sensor in boiling water - not wireing though get sum1 to hold it. turn ignition on and watch if temp gauge works.

if it does then u just had an air bubble around the sensor,fill the engine up with abit more water and refit the sensor see if it works. best to clean the connector surface with a wire brush as well before refitting

if it dont then wiring , guage, or sensor maybe fcuked. try swapping sensor with another 1
