I've got the choice of a 1.4sr on a J plate or a 1.6 GTE on a F plate. Is the GTE much quicker and is it worth the extra insurance? 1.4 sr is newer and more stylish but a GTE is quicker, HELP!

I think as standard the 1.4 SR is about 80 BHP and the GTE is about 95 - 100 BHP - correct me if i'm wrong. The GTE will obviously be quicker, but you easily take the 1.4 SR to over 100 BHP with the correct engine modifications. If you need any more info email me.

Gte is injected, less fucking about with the choke and it starts and runs faultlessly in the colder months (no carb icing!) Loads of torque with the GTE, drives like a dream. The GTE chassis is also made of thicker grade steel so it can take more of a hamering! I bought mine nearly a year ago now and haven`t looked back. Also got some 60 drop front springs for one if you`re interested.

If your,e in to speed the GTE is the best, more torque, beter suspension and thicker anti roll bars, Thicker guage engine bay, ideal for a 2.0 conversion, better brakes,ect.. Are you after speed or style.
