Austin's was only 'framed at the front, with bits of mk2 escort welded in elsewhere iirc.

PPC did a series a while back about space-framing a mk1 escort, was a fairly good guide imo.

It sounds like you want to speak to someone like winning line (Alan Weston) who do a lot of class 6 autograss cars. The space frame the front and back, nowadays in micras as they weigh nowt. check out the pictures on this link http://www.micra.org.uk/showthread.php?t=10187 I think most of the up front running gear they use is Vauxhall.

Yeah the class6 boy's are quite good at it. Bogg Brothers' have been working on a micra on and off for a few years now, very impressive tubework, and it's all based around very nice XE in the front, but just FWD. Dave (the founder of the garage), reckons it'll do a lot better as a track car than a grasser.
