I hooked a GTE pump ut to battery to test and it just blipped once rather than running. Does that mean its buggered or does it use less voltage when installed as it is marked at 12V on the side?

No it should run constantly.
You shouldn't run them when dry tho.

adam is correct. there is ceramic bushings in some pumps that require the fuel to keep it lubrictate and cold.

perhaps the pump unit is faulty. it should have run sweetly and constantly

please.

Yeah i poured fuel in one end knowing its not good to run em dry. il try leaving the fuel in there soaking to make sure it's not just stuck. Thanks guys.

Excellent! The soaking in petrol freed up the bearings, it works fine now! :-)
