Ok, so ive fecked Ford out the door, and am going to swap the fuel pump myself!

OMIGOD what a whore of a job!

So i pick up le spanners and start ripping my 18 Grand when new, only 2 years ago, transit engine to pieces.

Off with the plastic sh1te...

Hmmmm, clever clever ford. Need to get the pulley cover off, but the engine mount bolts through it lol.

One stack of bricks and more sweating later... oh poo, its driven via the main chain. 'Gulp'

Remove the inlet..

Farking out! Bargain :)

The offending artical.

Now all I have to do is get a replacement, then teach myself how to time this engine up (including the pump which has elongated holes to enable adjustment, much like a vernier pulley..... Gulp again)

Spending time in the bay has made me realise only a small amount of fabrication would be needed to fit a LET in here :wtf: Half of me hopes a rod pokes out the side of the block when I start it now!

I have faith in you. I reckon if you try you could get two of them poking out:thumb:

what's actually up with the pump lee, externally leaking fuel or re-circulating bearing swarf into the fuel?

Feck knows, its a modern engine, so it just shut itself down and told the computer its the pump!! lol

Maybe a LET isnt such a bad idea lol

I have also found out i will need the new pump programmed to the ECU. No surprise there!

Also got a brilliantly written timing schedule for it too, so maybe rods wont be poking out of blocks.

Welcome to the world of badly designed cars / vans lol. One that always makes me laugh is that fact that you need to remove the head lights on 106 to cambelt, an thats not joke.

Nope, its not commonrail. Its techically a TDDi.

I wish it was a commonrail, as the fuel pump is separate from the injectors and only has one outlet. Mine actually feeds the diesel to each injector separately, so not only does it need to be timed, it also has 4 outlets.

Ghey.

NO NO NO!!!!! i work at a diesel specialist and you can do these pumps in approx 3 hours without taking the timing covers off! you just remove the round cover which exposes the fuel pump gear and replace it with a special tool with three holes in, line these holes up with the bolts on the pump, undo them and then insert three pins to hold the gear in place. you can now remove the pump without worrying about losing the timing.

lol sorry to tell you this now, the last person i told did not look happy!!!
