just finished putting my engine back in my nova all wired up and piped up
(2.0 8v) come to start it for 1st time and all i got is starter motor click but no crank been and brought a new batt made sure it was charged tried again and same story what have i missed any ideas

the block could be seized did you take the engine apart. Turn turning the block over by hand. make sure the large red wire is going the the battery and the red black wire is going to the soilinoid

earths are on, got red to batt, brown earth to starter, black red trace to starter, has been stripped but turned it over a few times by hand

is the startor motor any good had this prob on a zafira diesel lol !

not as thick where would that go sitting around starter alt area

Have you fitted the gearbox-chassis earth strap? If so was it in good condition? If it wasn't then I'd replace it, I had a similar issue after my engine swap, and although it looked intact, my strap had snapped.

there was no earth strap on when it was running bebore just gonna go out and make sure all the earths have got good contact
could somone post wich wire go where im sure it's
starter: brown(earth) black red trace(signal)
alt: red(live) blue white trace (remote)

Starter big terminal bolt-RED from battery(also joined with alternator red wire)
BROWN-To the starter motor mount bolt
RED/BLACK to the Solenoid

BLUE/WHITE to the alternator small terminal.
Earth strap from the alternator to the engine.

Late novas dont have a gearbox earthstrap, as they are dodgy and unreliable, so got swapped with a proper cable from the battery negative terminal.

The small red on the battery positive feeds the car loom.

No G/box earth! I'd still put one on tbh....

The standard starter motor earth to battery cable is plenty good enough Craig.
Its a hefty cable.

And doesn't rust in bits like gearbox straps do.
