I got another 3 points today.

No, Not Nectar points.

The sneaky git was hid behind a wheely bin and got me doing 40 in a 30. I was in the 1.2 and id only just set out, so 40mph was a miracle in itself! (bear in mind, this is one of those 30mph roads that is wider than the M25 and has about 3 houses on it)

Basic conversation...

Mr Plod: DO you want to ask any questions about the lazer gun?

Me: No, thats fine

Mr Plod: Are you sure?

Me: yes, although I do have one question

Mr Plod: Yes?

Me: Does the SAS train you how to make yourselves invisible wearing day-glow yellow jackets?

Mr Plod: Laugh

Me: Im serious, you looked like a bag on top of a rubbish bin

3 more and im in court pleading for my licence. Deep joy.

Dont speed kids, its bad. Or at least, look out for suspicious rubbish bins.

i got done in the distance about 10 yards from a national speed limit sign from 850 yards away, i was not happy, i had'nt even seen him and he'd got me!

moral of the story, dont speed, save the speed for the track.

Police are really good round here, ive been pulled 3 times at least in the nova doing about 80 and they just check my car and tell me to go slower or go home!

But i think your manour towards them can always change the situation, and a lot of our police cars dont have cameras cus were not as posh as some places!

Unlucky Lee.

Thought i had got done the other day on a dual carriagway, was doing 70ish lol
And saw a van with flashing lights in a layby, and words that i thought said "Police Safety Van"

Then when i got closer to it i realised it actually said "Food Sold Here", it was a burger van lol

Lee
09-01-08, 07:53 PM

Bad luck dude,

sneaky buggers indeed, he must have been well pleased with himself. If he would have let you off your life of crime would have led you to become a real crimbo and mugged him mum one daylol

touches wood
Less of that please lol

Most of the coppers round here are more into doing random stops and breathalysing people, whilst trying to poke holes in their car. They also have a habit of standing around the entrance to the airstation and pulling people over as they come in

09-01-08, 10:43 PM
Bad luck Lee.

How long have you got to untill the older points can be removed?

I'm going to touch my wood too, as I am a lucky person to not have any; YET!

The thing is, there is probably more people with points on their license in this country now than those without.

Lee
09-01-08, 10:46 PM
Not sure, i need to check my counterpart, im guessing another year.

Although not as far as my insurance is concerned as they stay on for 5 years in their eyes.

So techinally you can end up in a position phoning your insurance for a quote, and telling them you have 18 points lol

I see my future lol

I drive for work, so another 3 wouldnt see me banned provided i plea to the courts with some puppydog eyes. There would be a hefty fine though!

Just got to be careful, im not a serial speeder, its just the odd times like on that road where a 30 limit is retarded, that the police like to hang out. I bet they made a killing this morning!

The police around here that check speed park in same places everyday and have been doing for years so it's second nature when to slow down for them it's like knowing when your approaching a speed cam.

Allthough i normally drive slow anyway as my speedo is out lol.

By something that won't reach more than 30??? a ped lol

09-01-08, 11:15 PM
It would be much less sneaky if they actually made themselves clearly visable. It annoys me when they resort to hiding, I'm sure it would encourage people to slow down more if they SAW the police car!

Unlucky Lee, take it easy now though, I'd hate to be disqulified again :(

i thought they were not allowed to hide anymore and that they had to be clearly visable

pmsl - I thought they couldnt hide either - thought the whole point was to be visible to deter speeders... hiding is just petty...

Jack
10-01-08, 12:14 AM
Fixed cameras did have to be visible if the local authority participated in whatever scheme it was

I believe now its just a free for all though. Mobile cameras can hide wherever the feck they like.

yeah points suck though most insures now see 6 point as normal. i did here some where that if you got 9 for speeding that was your licance . but i may be wrong. i keep being told off for speeding and got a right telling off when they find out i have 6 already

Couldnt be assed tbh, he seemed desperate for me to ask a question about it so i doubt it had missed a calibration test.

if he had points already he could have got compunded points

ie 4 bald tyres =12 poins straight away

10-01-08, 10:36 PM
the 6points rule, as with most sentancing is only a guide line - there can be all sorts of mitigating factors involved

Lynsey
10-01-08, 10:37 PM
Aye but the second lot weren't for bald tyres or the like, they were for rolling his car. I just thought he'd have got banned for getting the first 6 points.

Thats the whole pi$$er with calling themselves safety camera's etc. Then go & hide out in inconspicuous areas or like here wide open run ups to the entry of national speed limit areas etc.

Genuine revenue collectors.

Be good now Lee. I'm led by example. lol

You get 6 points in your first 2 years of driving you dont get banned, you just have to re-apply for your provisional, re-take your theory and do an extended test. :thumb:

Reet a bit off subject but was parked in a 1 and a half hour spot only today and spoke to the warden which seemed like a nice chap kinda youngish and he said to me basicly ''I aint going to book yas at all today because i can't be ****d to walk down to the car park in this weather to check how long ya been here'' which was great. So i don't get what all this thing is about the more they book the more they get because he could have booked around 7 people lol.

Your kidding me right?

Your saying that the warden told you it was safe to park because he couldnt be as5ed to check, and then gave you his number incase you got a ticket, so you could phone his bosses to TELL them he told you that???
