Hi all,
I havent been an active member for around 2 years but ive gained a little interest back for a project that was never finnished. Had a good read around last night and joined the PNG too to get to the shows.

Here it is as it stood in 2005.

I like the idea of a "ring" trip this year, so I think some weight loss is on the cards ;) NO COMMENTS DAN lol

Hi and thanks,

Looks exactly as it does in the photos its been garaged and covered for 18 months, the only things gaining dusts are the parts I never did anything with! Started weekly and ran to get oil pressure up and starts first time every time.

Ive nicked the wheels to put on my other car though cos I couldnt find tyres and a different set is in the parts bin. Have to see which looks best

Should the filler cap go the same coluor as the other detailing?

was just sat thinking it would match well if sprayed same as bumpers ..

is that a metalic grey ? or similiar ?

mikeoxford

Paint matched the anthracite grey from the wheels for the bumpers and mirrors. The faded grey window surrounds were painted the same colour too. Ive never noticed how odd the filler cap looks till I posted this...!

Has your parking improved since those days Mike? ;)

mikeoxford
22-03-08, 03:23 AM
for some reason jim its not showing me the pics... was it really that bad?

been really busy and totally forgot about the rolling road day approaching.

bit of a cut and paste here but wanted to keep the progress thread upto date...

LOL, well i managed to tax, MOT and insure her in less than 24 hours!

It flew through the MOT having not been driven for 18 months and had an advisory on "Offside bottom ball joint slightly split" and "Nearside trackrod end slightly split".

I made the post office at 5:25pm, 5 mins before closing!

Spent a lot of time cleaning today, bringing back the engine bay to hopefully *some* of its formy glory... As well as being sat for a while it has been driven hard prior to that. Its cool to have some war wounds anyway

Here it is after a bit of a clean... (notice the attention to detail lol we got some of the finer jobs done with toothbrushes and had loads apart)

The Mattig grille spoiler got damaged from frost so ive had to remove it to repaint it. Itll just have an anthracite meshed grille in it for the RR day but i found this collecting dust in the tardis that is my parents garage...

http://www.mikeoxford.com/upload/irmscher.jpg

http://www.mikeoxford.com/upload/irmscher1.jpg

and attacked it with this.....

http://www.mikeoxford.com/upload/modelpaints.jpg

LOL lol at the airfix paint set (them were the days)

the tardis....

http://www.mikeoxford.com/upload/garage.jpg

an obsession too far?! if you need anything send me a PM im clearing the garage I might just have it, you'd be suprised...

I am trying to restore her back to a classic example of (99's / naughties?) styling, its not to everyones taste, even some aspects arent to mine anymore but its a nice time capsule for everything I apreciated at the time! Im trying to get in touch with someone off MIG about a second set of wheels which ill buy some barely legal tyres for and the rear end will be gutted for a ring trip

not nearly as exciting as some project threads, but hopefully some will find it some "old school cool" more to follow... :thumb:

cheers andy for the assistance and brews!
