View Full Version : the truth about electric superchargers
http://exmotorz.com/jetintake/jetin.jpg
Above is an electric supercharger available on e-bay.
Apparently it can give your car up to 25% more power!
Below is a bilge blower also available on e-bay.
Apparently it is a fan for a boat......

Dar, have you thought of fitting an electric 'dump valve' as well, they are well fast

Funny you should ask about that, because I have looked at them. The problem is that I will fail the sound test at events since the one I wanted was 130db and most places only allow 100db flyby :( It's a shame really because it means that I will have to go to the trouble of modifying the engine at some point which is expensive.
Although I heard about the leaf blower super charger modification that's supposed to be better than what I currently run. So I may be ok :D
There is a mk1 micra 1.0 with Turbo badges I've seen round Hinckley that has the mother of dump valves on it. every time he changes gear there is the biggest 'ptchussssssss' noise, it scares children.........

We put a 1.3 nova on the rollers and did a run standard and got about 69bhp an then put a massive 3 phase 2 foot fan directly over the now exposed carb about a foot away. We got a massive increase of 3 bhp. lol
Proof right there that they work and all you have to do is strap it onto the front of the car an your have a square power graph cos it makes power all the time being a electric YO.

some guys strapped a leaf blower to there diesel truck and got nearly 50 horse more but you would need to tow it as it was so big

Electric superchargers rule.
The real shame is that these people dont actually understand how an engine works, and how much blow you actually need before it becomes more effective than the sucking force of the piston itself.
But then, they wouldnt be selling them if retards didnt but them lol

youd be the king of chavs.
I know of a functioning electric supercharger ;) but its ******* expensive and you cant have one lol
we should patent the 'duck valve'

how many omega's have parking sensors spoiler Black alloys with red calipers and matching grill full colour coded bumbers no black plastic. Twin exhaust
Erm, most of them? lol
My mate has a merc 1.8 kompressor (supercharger) and it has to be said this supercharger works and it is brilliant for a 1.8 in a heavy car......
it should do.... its a real one....not a bilge pump
Cheap bilg that might buy one for my boat as ones there is bit lazy, prob the best use for them!

That's interesting. Why don't folk fit "real" superchargers then? Most just fit the hairdryer type.

The old merc slk feels powerful but the newer 1800 one lacks a bit of punch

I thought the new ones were 1600s? as with everyone else smaller cc for emissions?

hmmmm, 6 year gap in in posting seems to have blurred the reality between real super chargers & electric pseudo-chargers. (you could probably fit bigger injectors to 'up' the fuelling)
Electric superchargers were the laughing stock a few years ago, ffs dont get drawn in thinking they actually work.

I'm not even going to answer.....lol

Would you like banning for a week for bumping this needlessly?
stu, I did actually reference this thread in a new(ish) one where a bloke was asking after an electric s/charger for a school project his kid was doing & I was pointing out a possible cheapo source for one....

As Mowgli said above, I just saw it referenced and commented, it was all recommented out by Saturday. many apologies.
