new project (not a nova tho)

well after selling the nova a while back i need a car that gave me the fun that the nova did, the mk1 xr2 didnt have that so sold that and baught a near mint mk2 xr2 apart from the front end

i got the welder out and got some panels on a week or 2 ago then fitted the engine yesterday which is an rst lump.

hit a problem tho as the alternator and bracket need swaping for an xr2 item so need to take this one off so the engine can be fully mounted etc

should give me the fun the nova gave me i hope so we'll see

yeh should be a bit more fun than the nova, as its on spax psx adjustables, poly bushes and front and rear strut braces, so will handle better than my set up on the nova

only thing is i dont know if i'll like it yet, i dont relay like waiting for boost lol putting out 198bhp tho so that'll make up for the waiting lol

learnt alot doing this car so next time i get a nova it'll be better than this car and my old nova so alls good

done some cutting and welding to the stainless system to get it to fit the feza.

after some filling and sanding its now painted, only cans for the time till i go to my old mans and then i'll have a go at spraying it so then i'll have done everything to the car mself.

I had one of these, engine was outta a FRST so running efi. Was lots of fun, whats the boot like? These have rear screen wash mounted in the boot and they always leak, well mine did anyway. It was red too!

You'll defo have fun it it, be interesting too see what this would be like against a red top nova when it's all done n dusted.

Either way you will have some fun, theres something very cool about an 80's fiesta popping n banging it's way down the road!

Mine only had 160ish brake (t3 conversion) but had quite alot of torque.

hopefuly break the 200bhp mark with this on, as the 198 was with standard intercooler and a crap filter which iv modded so will take in lots of air.

well was putting some reciepts in to my folder for the car and found the v5 so was bout to put that id and noticed under special notes on the front, it said it was registerd/used over seas, declared manufactured 1988

so that might be one reason its still in such good condition, but going to right to the dvla as apparently for a fiver i can find out the history

need to mod brackets on it etc get them welded somewhere local if there is anywhere!

been doing wiring today, the car has power! need to fit cooler and do fuel hoses in the boot put fluids in and its good to go!

That looks awesome Lew ! Theres spots on mine that are worse than yours ! The 1600CVH's are pretty lame as standard, it should be interesting with the FRST lump. They're cracking little cars, but the nova still wins it for me !

Yeah ive always liked the mk2 xrs, they made a real matcho note as standard,mate had a performance system on his and when he went through tunnel and car parks it sounded awesome. The other thing abouts the old fords are, they're alot easier to drive than the old vauxhall, gears are alot easier and the clutch does get hard rock solid. Once thing though, the gap between 1st and 3rd on the xr gear box is very small, not sure if thats the case with the rs box .

Nice car red defo the best colour, the standard sierra cossy 15'' wheels look absolutely awesome on those not sure what they're called though. :thumb:

forgot to add aswell i think, i connected the battery the other day and was made up! the standard stereo and speakers were blasting away and also the speaker fader thing works!

project was going to get put on hold till i got more money but i got a little bit now, so off to get some fuel hose today and spray, finish sprtaying the bay parts and get the lines in the boot done, the all i need is the boost hoses to arrive and its then good to go!

Im not knocking you here, but that boost pipe is absoloutely shocking, it will massively reduce the speed of the air flow, it needs to be a smooth 90deg bend. :)
