7 day ban is an absolute joke IMO.

Driving on hard shoulder (straddling that plus inside lane) is enough to get you a severe rapping on the knuckles, but imagine if you were doing 60 miles OVER the limit, i.e. 130mph - you'd be looking towards at least a years ban for that.

60 miles over the limit is no more dangerous than 60 miles under the limit. At least on the motorway you kinda expect the odd idiot to be spooning along at 100+. The last thing you expect is some doddery old bint wobbling between the hard shoulder and inside lane at 10mph! If she really did have no confidence on the motorway, she could have quite easily just avoided the M32 by looking at a map.

I did also see this quotation bandied around from another source:

Brake's spokesman, Lorna Jackson said, ?This case sends out a very strange message to drivers. Mrs Cole was not breaking the speed limit or endangering anyone with her actions, yet she received a seven day ban, when we commonly see drivers caught travelling at 80 or 90mph get away with a fine and three points. While it is not common to encounter someone travelling at 10mph on a motorway, a competent driver should always be looking well ahead and predicting when they need to overtake a slower vehicle."
Not endangering anyone?! How exactly does that one work then!

The slow speed gatsos wouldnt work as everyone in a traffic jam would get one lmfao.

Also she is a complete tard, just because she is disabled doesnt give her the right to kill ther people on the road.

North Avon Magistrates' Court had previously heard that Mrs Cole's GP had been treating her for "fear of driving" for the past three-and-a-half years.

WTF??? How do you cure someone from Carophobia ffs? Especially as a GP

Well it shows that the so called 'motoring organisations' no nothing about transport law.

1. if a vehicle is averaging less than 30mph on a motorway, the law assumes it is an obstruction, & should have warning beacons & an escort vehicle.
2. it is an offence to be driving whilst under the influence of strong medication. ( my aunt had ms, she was on some serious drugs)
3. The woman was weaving from the hard shoulder into lane 1.
4. The vehicle was displaying a sign likely to incite other motorists.

The 7 day ban is nothing, but the lady will never in a month of sundays re-pass her test.

Good point although alot of younger drivers drive too fast, and older drivers drive too slow, which can be equally as dangerous.

I nearly lost it the other day, stuck behind some 90 year old doing 15mph in a 30 limit, no joke he was braking for a slight curve in the road!!
