Heres one for ya.
I have got a set of 6*9's mids & tweeters and an infinity 10" running off a sony amp, When I turned my head unit up above 20 all the speakers crackled sometimes, I had no idea what was causing it, I disconnected one of my 6*9's and it stopped, I reconnected it and it came back, then I connected the wire to the standard speaker and it has stopped, anyone got any idea what this could be as in what is wrong with the 6*9 as it is perfect until it goes above 20 (which isn't that loud as it is a Kenwood unit that goes up to 34) any help would be greatly appreciated as it is strange that is makes all the speakers crackle.
Cheers,
Nathan.

I know i once had a problem similar to this, but it may not be the solution to yours.

When i used to turn my stereo up loud, one of my front speakers used to crackle loads and it used to piss me off something chronic. In my case it turned out to be that as the music got turned up the cone used to move more and therefore the speaker would shake, and in doing so my connections would shake them selves about(shorting each other etc) to and even sometimes off so that the speaker would cut out completely. So in the end i soldered the connections and all was fine and dandy.

Failing that i don't know what the problem is ;)

So ur sayin all that stuff is runnin from the amp?

Maybe u wanna try running the 6*9's from the head unit or the components, or ALL speakers... and jus keep amp for sub (bridge rear channels or summat) and ONE pair of speakers

I have poineer 6x9's and one of the crackles like a bastard when the volume on my kenwood it turned up - usually when the bass is up on certain tracks. Turns out the speaker is blown. Just bought a set of 300w infinities so will be replacing shortly.

The only way I can get it to stop crackling is to either take the ba`ss out (which is shite) or but a piece of electrical tape across the bottom of the cone to limit it vibrating - which shags the sound.
