Does anybody know or have a drivers side wing for a white 1.4sr?

How do you take the wing off as I've got the MOT coming up and the bottom of it is all rusted, I'm sure it wont pass as its a danger to other road users. Do I need to weld anything??

Thanx :painting:

It wont fail the MOT as the outer front wing is purely cosmetic and not really structural at all. If the rust has transfered to the body of the car and holes are appearing along the sils and other structural places - then you need to fix that ASAP.

You can buy new panels cheaply from various motor factors and online from http://www.sel-imperial.co.uk/ .. however, I have not tried this company myself. All new wings come in a primer colour and need to be sprayed.

wings are easy to remove - depends on which model but (from memory) theres about 9 10mm nuts - one on the outside under the car near the arch (u can see it clearly - could be covered in sound deadning though), one on the corner under the headlight and one inside the car at the base of the a piller (need to remove parcel shelf, the plastic panel on the side of the car and the foam padding inside) and the rest (6 or so) are along the top of the wing in the engine bay (a channel that runs down the wing by the bonnet edge). You will need to take grill and bumper off though to get it off (again depends on model but bumper covers the front section of wing). I think theres also another nut under the car at the front somewhere?

Get a haynes manual for full details - and watch out for the side indicator - need to dismantle it - I just cut the wires (but mind its a pig to reassemble if u do). Also watch the ariel - if there is one on the wing...
