hi everyone just had some bad luck with the nova my 1.0l engine blew up on me when i was driving, (grinding banging cracking etc) theres no visible damage but it bangs ans grinds when i try to turn it over. so the question is is it easy to change from a 1.0 L to a 1.6? ivegot my head screwed on when it comes to swapping the engines and my cousin can do the wires but obviously it wont be that simple so can you tell me the not so obvious things that i have to change
thanks mikey

standard (read that as with a manifold/air filter too) 1.6 8V's are worth next to fcuk all so look around at people doing XE conversions and grab their scrap :D

Isn't one of the engine mounts on a 1.0 different to the rest of them?

only the bracket that bolts to the engine jack , just use a mount from any other nova

its an easy swap , you will need tank and pump , and engine & g/box , with loom and ecu

your drivesahfts will be fine but you should fit some bigger brakes

but... if you only passed your test a few week ago , you wil get hammered on the insurance

and DONT not delcare it if you do it

^ not a bad price really.

One of my GSi engines cost me ?75 i think? And the other cost me?60 IIRC but i heard it running prior to removal and helped remove it on purchase day

so its a good price then as for the tank and gear box a trip to the scrappy i think, does anyone no how much for a new tank and can you get them from vauxhall?

Steve

Don't try and bodge up a 1.0 tank just ring around scrappys (vauxhall specialist ones) and you should get a gte or gsi one fairly easy, there was a gearbox on here the other day, also its worth hearing the engine run before buying if you can.

Doubt you can get a tank new and if you can its not worth it as they'll cost shed-loads. Wiring is pretty straight forward.

Steve

f13 is normally the close ratio gearbox for small block novas, 1.4 sri and 1.6 gte/ gsi have them std. All 5 speed as far as I know

I didnt do the wiring on my gte conversion but looking at it now its pretty simple, if he's done one before then im sure it'll be fine.

Quick question - why don't you trust your own cousin!? lol lol
