right i need some help 2 work out wots causin my front speakers 2 distort.
My install is as follows,
Sony CDX-MP30 Headunit (4x50 Watts)
Kenwood KFC-1068S 4in. Speakers in original dash mounting position (90 Watts)
Kenwood 6x9's in rear parcel shelf (Can't Remember Model) (200 Watts)
the problem is when i set the bass level on my stereo 2 a suitable level for my music and turn it up the front speakers start 2 distort. Any Ideas?
Well there are a few things that i could see to fix this:
a) Turn the volume down on the front speakers on the fade on your headunit so that they are slightly quieter than the 6x9's that can handle the bass better.
b) Buy some new speakers cos they just don't do your system any justice at all, the headunit is really good and would work much better with say some Kenwood Dual mags(which i have myslef installed in a friends car) whose bass reproduction is incredible i think :)

c) thirdly you could purchase an amp, now as good as your headunit is the signal from it will never be as good as a dedicate amp. The amp has better control over the speaker and sends a cleaner signal to it reducing the distortion than can occur, if you get an amp you will immeadiately notice how much crisper the sound is :)
Really i don't think theres any point in getting an amp until you get some new speakers so i would do it in the order i have listed. Use the fade as a temporary measure until you get the new speakers and then get the amp after that.

Another way of doing it would be do either buy or make (you can get a circuit diagram of the web somewhere) a cross-over, that way you cut the bass out of the signal before sending it to the front speakers, and let the 6*9's kick out the bass
