crossmember

my nova keeps snaping the cross member so was wondering if i could cut it out and replace it with a peice of steel box section as i'm sure i've seen it done on here but can't seem to find the thread anymore or is there any other way please post pics if you know of any

:eek: what engine are you running?? and id personnally be tempted to replace it with a new crossmember and then fit a plating kit. or have you already tried that

Keeps snapping cross members ?? How many have snapped ??
I can't see how it can snap them tbh, fair enough if its about 15 year and a bit rotten, but snapping a new one ?
Is it snapping / shearing at the welds or thru the actual metal ??
Any pics ??

no a very good pic but just noted that to say the crossmember is only 6 mounth old it is very rusty so it looks like i have been ripped off and they have cut one from another car and welded it to mineand also they haven't strethened it the robbing f**kers

heres mine after nearly 3 yrs!

just get another and get it done right. i got the plates around the tie bar mounting area fully welded (along with fully welding the 2 harry hockley plates as you can see in the post earlier) and the rest of the cross member stitched (is basically 2 pieces of sheet metal folded and spot welded together) and then got it powder coated to seal it up inside and out using the holes.
