black mk2

Right thought its about time i started a wip thread on my car, basically its a j-reg black mk2 1.0l bought it about 8/9months or so ago as my 1st road legal car (had a red mk1 1.2 sr rep that got sold to finance this). unfortunatly i dont have any pics of the standard car but it was factory spec, nothing special.
Firstly my mate bought a set of bucket seats for his toyota paseo but didnt like them so i bought them and a back box of him and fitted them, sorted out some audio in the form of a jvc mp3 head unit running fli 6"coaxils in the front in custom door pods

and fli 6x9"s mounted on a reinforced parcel shelf and a mb 12" sub in a mdf boot build powered by a class-D 700w alpine mono-block amp.
Bought a fibreglass big mouthed bumper off of nuds sr (cheers alan), sanded it back, sorted it out and primed it ready for top coat

Then sourced some 15" tsw stealths for free from a neighbour and was going to buy tires for them until there was a set in the friday-ad fitted with tyres and in better condition so i snapped them up and fitted them

Thought i was making good progress, but felt it was lacking in the interior so went on frost.co.uk and bought a black flocking kit and flocked the dial suround and ash tray suround

Next my plans are to get new arches all round, hopefully slightly wider and rolled and to get her lowered -60mm all round or mabey on some coilovers, the shell will then be sorted and all the rust will be gone. spray the wheels black and sort out some sort of show cage and give her a re-spray.

looks good, if it were mine id loose them mirrors and get a sr or gsi interior pronto! been wondering whos this is for ages lol, its allways next to mine in the featueres, looks like a good base, keep it up :thumb:

cheers guys the frost kit is about ?20 of the top of my head. and cheers mirrors are going just got to get round to digging out my old ones and if you no were theres a gsi or similar interior going give us a pm mate.

steve its a shamefull 1.0l but its put up with alot of stick, planning some sort of small block 16v maybe? and i got the dial pod bit and the ash tray bit out of one bag and i re-done some as i wasnt happy but you will obviously get the hang of it after that, only cheap stuff anyways.

1.6 16v are ideal for tuning as many people off here will tell you.

Nothing wrong with the 1.0 for now, mine took 4 years of constant abuse and never gave me any problems. :thumb:

small up date, got the car on the ramp a min ago and its all pretty solid just the rear nearside chassis leg, but its not that bad. quite happy with it acctualy. now to go and wash her....

corsa was a bit of a shed tbh id rather wait for a gooden, plus the money wasnt right. got a delivery of some front arches and a rear strut brace today (thanks tom beverley) so ill be cleaning them up and painting them, also re-spray the front bumper, on saterday.

got a little update i have decided what i want to do with the interior so i riped out all the old rear seats and subwoofer enclosure and began to lay down some dynamat heres were i got to before i ran out of light

i also removed the metal from the rear bumper and ive booked it into a bodyshop to have two new rear arches (?400 for everythink, what you think?)also got the rear strut brace on cheers tom.

Looking good mate. I'm not a fan of the M3 mirrors, think DTM's look better as an aftermarket mirror.

I take it with the dynamat your putting in a bit of an install??

my std mirrors are at the back off my shed (full of ****) but they are going back on just gota dig em out, and im getting a set of pro race 2s (5spokes in black) good old finance lol and your right my 1 ltr nova runs better than most of the cars down my road lol ow yer forgot to add i bought a set of coilovers lastnite on the cheap so ill get pics of them on after the arches are done.

re conditioned the ate calipers with new seals and fitted them yesterday so i will post up pics 2morow when its daylight, very glad i did it as they make such a difference.
