I know its not a Vauxhall, but I like to think were all into our modified motors, so heres a few pics of my golf gti mark 2, originally a 1.8 8v. Now running almost everything out of the donor mark 3 2.8 VR6-including axles etc.

All original bodywork etc, apart from the addition of G60 front arch trims.

What ya think?:D

Thanks for the comments, Yeah the oak green is the mark 2 colour of the purists! I like my white though! and it stays quite clean.

Has a lovely exhaust system and sounds like a subaru, Great drive, quite a planted car really considering. The local mitsubishi boys have been burnt a few times.

Just need to sort a new rear bumper out as its trim has faded beyond gel colouring now, and the paint has chipped abit. Also the tailgate has a tiny wee rust bubble above the grab rail, barely noticeable but still. Also the interior is stripped now, and awaits a white full cage.

Are you on any of the dub sites?

Nice! G60 arches and some rallye head lights would finish it off!

Whats the difference between G60 arches and say...the other ones?

Looks good though

Im not any of the dub sites mate, But me and a mate fitted the VR6, and im not a mechanic, but wassnt that hard in all fairness. He says! u wait til I have to do something on the nova lol
All told the car owes me 2500! Thats including donor car and my mates help for a few days!
I have a set of rallye headlights and grill, just need to get em painted as there in the helios blue, but should look sweet then. Its quite a menacing looking car when u see it approaching in the rear view mirror-well, so im told :D

G60 arches are wider and more flaired to allow less scrubage as they had different offset

walshc

G60 arches are bigger/wider than normal ones

Rallye front does look sweet on non rallye models

It is a beast! Ive seen the turbo and twin turbo upgrades for the VR6 and there silly amounts of power! This one is running 208bhp, Im not sure what they are as standard, but it has a full manifold down system, and chipped ecu. Thats about it.

All about the old skool :)

Thanks, body will stay original as thats how I like it, Might put in the 16v front fogs, and obviously the white cage and seats etc. But I think its best how it looks really. Although brakes could be bit sharper, so maybe some bigger brakes in the future

walshc
31-12-07, 05:41 PM
2.8`s are 174bhp standard, so thats a healthy rise, id be impressed
Go for a G60 brake upgrade, a mate was selling some, i`ll see if he still has them if you want?

And old skool cool ;) :thumb: theres mine

used to have an oak green 5 door myself but sold it after
finding out how bad they handle round roundabouts
bit scary on 3 wheels at just over average speed love the way they look and the vr's sound

M17BLH
31-12-07, 09:48 PM
LOL, Trev-i couldnt agree more, she handles ok these days think the extra weight of the VR sexy helps. I had a FTO round the roundabout earlier, he was very surprised and very impressed-I quote "Fcuk me mate, that thing sounds brutal, not a 1.8 then?" lol

Wound the window down and said-Dunno, bloke told me its a 1.3? and lights when green, It wasnt a case of bye bye GTi :D

Yeah, They were ridiculously slow IMO. But the VR is what is should have come with! and surprisingly not too bad on the fuel either

Matt2107

The flogVW sticker was in the window when he bought it and he just decided to leave it lol.

Not sure if he's on editon38.... definately goes on clubgti.

He got an engine stand for christmas so has been pricing up a new engine with a few "goodies" thrown in. I think he's going for the 2ltr 16v engine. Maybe I'll try and convince him to go for a VR6 instead ;)

For anyone who gives a monkey's nuts....

my brother is ordering a 2ltr 16v ABF engine.
It'll have twin 45's, ported and polished head, forged rods and pistons, lightened and balanced flywheel, 4 branch manifold.
