Has anyone seen this happen before?

Brand new CV, reversed off the drive with it, tried to drive back up and it stripped the teeth off lol.

i would say that it was the wrong cv imho for your shaft.

yes. i changed the lower arm and put the bulljoiont on wrong. drove up the road and gave the car some "welly" and heard lots of crunching and lost all drive. at 1st i thought it was the gearbox but later found the shaft pulled itself out of the cvj. think thats all right.

The guy at the motor factors said that all nova outer CV's were the same fitment, but that there was essentially a "beefy" one and a "puny" one. Ah well, I'll go ask for a credit note on wednesday :).

I see the stripped splines but whats with the over heating marks in the metal of the CV body?

They were there when I got it (brand new). In my opinion its just a duff one.

I had the same on a mk2 fiesta I once had.
I fitted the wrong cv joint and it self destructed.

all nova ones are the same as far as i know, your entitled to your money back because its faulty

cv joints are normally guaranteed for 10000 miles

Thats a CV for a 22 spline shaft. :) Im guessing you dont have 22 spline shafts, unless your running a big block conversion, or have a GTe or a Diesel?

yeah but if its an outer cv then they should all be 22 spline ?

Actually I am using a 22 spline shaft on that side, as last time a cv went i got a complete set of 22 spliners for less than the cost of a new cv. I've got a poverty model cv on there now I just need to fit a new boot as the one that came with it wont stay on.

All outer nova CV joints are the same regardless of what you think or are told. We've had so many problems with the motorfactors they kept sending some random ones that dont fit, exactly the same as what you have posted above., The ones they gave us were to big an just slipped and broke the teeth.

What motorfactors was it?



Also novas have 22 spline inner an 28 outer (all nova are 28 outer), corsas are 22 spline both ends if they are 22 spline.

I can't get the big clip on the cv boot now :(.
