Need some more pics, but you've got the right attitude.

Std gte's are getting rarer all the time.

grey interiors are utterly rank, but then you'll loose the originality of it.

Up to you mate, I hate grey interiors but its up to you whether you want it totally original or not.

Yep his was calypso as well I think, i'd love a black gte myself but good luck finding one.

love it mate

wanted one this colour for years

me personally would keep the old dash in ive changed plenty into mk2 dashes then regretted it afterwards kkep it original

M17BLH
30-12-07, 11:04 PM
I think after the work your putting in to make it back to original, putting in a later dash would spoil it and defeat the whole point.
I personally dont like mark one dashes anyway, But Id keep it original if your car was mine.

twistysnovagte
06-01-08, 08:30 PM

Steve
06-01-08, 08:47 PM
Nah I don't need them just thought someone else might, thats cheap for a scrappy, if it were closer I would of had the whole car, any rust on it all as it looks totally mint, especially to be in a scrappys

Nick
06-01-08, 10:19 PM

Also had a little problem this morning of my front washer jets deciding 19years is enough without a clean,so i took the jets, piping and tank off for inspection and a bloody good clean, and in the sink it goes,im thinking a kettle of boiling water and some jeyes fluid!?????

Yes! Tigra rims are nice. Get them on asap!

Welsh Dan
26-11-08, 12:19 PM
Hot water and jeyes should do it. If the mrs isnt watching then the dishwasher can bring them up niceley ;).

twistysnovagte
26-11-08, 12:31 PM
as we speak mate its in the sink, boiling with jeyes fluid, just been out to buy a babys bottle cleaner:roll: lol,so will leave for a hour and hopefuly the next pic of it should be like new(im hoping):D if alls good then ill be removing the coolant bottle next!:thumb:

Leeboo
26-11-08, 12:49 PM
Those free wheels do nothing for the car, get the old GTE trims or Tigra alloys on.

Also, tints off...

I do like this little GTE, looks well. Its hard to beat a standard Nova with simple upgraded bits such as the exhaust.

twistysnovagte
26-11-08, 02:21 PM
they will be definatly coming off lee,but for now hard times at work on 3 day weeks,so the money for tyres etc is awkward, im thinking of just saving a little each week to maybe buy 1/2 of ebay/online tyrshop etc,i was then only going to fit them probaly after the colder months so no damage to the paint of the road salts etc:thumb:

Leeboo
26-11-08, 02:36 PM
Sounds like a plan mate, I understand your idea now! Good luck with your plans.

twistysnovagte
26-11-08, 05:44 PM
well after finaly cleaning all the sludge out the washer bottle it now looks pretty tidy compared to the coolant bottle!(which is next:))bottle was soaked in boiling water with jeyes fluid and scrubbed inside with a "babys bottle cleaner" water pipes were also soaked the same and used pipe cleaners to remove any remaining sludge, also used a fine needle to clean the jets now all back in and works a treat, just finnished giving the car a good valeting inside(only)also have some new gm coolant and anchilery pipes i will change once i change the oil and cooloant,as said bored of work today and thought id tidy the bay up a little.

well after having bad news twice in recent weeks, 1st being hit by some hideous driver and making a small crack to my perfect bumper
2nd being that after treating the car to a new battery, i found the dreaded rust making a new home.
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa168/twist6151/DSCF1243.jpg?t=1231003833
so toady i gave the car another treat to some of this.(with a new gm filter)
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa168/twist6151/DSCF1424.jpg?t=1231004164
i put the ramps out to get under the car but it was catching the bottom of the bumper(wheels still a good few inch away from the ramp)so i decided to remove the grill/front bumper(first time approachlol)ive been meaning to do this for a while to see what condition the front end is in,and my little baby has given me this(not bad considering its the first time the bumper has been off since the factory, isay this as the screw on the inside of the wing still have underseal on them etc.after a quick wipe over with some auto glym intense tar remover):D
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa168/twist6151/DSCF1422.jpg?t=1231004473
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa168/twist6151/DSCF1423.jpg?t=1231004541
also got round to changing the weak blaupunkt speaker with some kenwood items:)
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa168/twist6151/DSCF1426.jpg?t=1231004834
and thats it for today didnt get time to wash it as i started late and it went dark early so ill be treating it to a bath all over get rid of dreaded salts underneath.

Those wheels look Gash. They were free for a reasoni know the wheels look gash:roll: but seeing as they have new tyres on them and the roads are wet with salt, fook them up instead;) i have these to fit
http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/aa168/twist6151/DSCF1326.jpg?t=1227697258
(just not got the penny's just yet to have them finnished off plus having to work three days a week and pay a mortgage doesnt help funds towards the car so they will be staying on for now,
plus ive searched ebay and google and cant seem to find the makers of the wheels anywere lol(fnw).

You made me think about checking my battery tray. Lots of surface rust, appearing.Time to book it it the bodyshop i think before it gets any worse.

If you're going to wash all the salt off the underside, spray it with old engine oil to keep the water out.
