View Full Version : after engine change my 1.4sr is a bit lumpy

after i have changed my 1.2i to a 1.4sr since i have been driving it about it seems to kangaroo when im driving slow its ok when i put my foot down just when i try and drive at a normal speed it feels like im kangorooing everywhere what could be the problem

Does it idle OK? What do the spark plugs look like?

did you fit a carb tank or have you left the original injection one in ?

I did the same conversion and had similar problems.

Turned out it was a vacuum hose from the brake master cylinder to inlet. There was a 2 or 3mm hose was un-done and caused a leak.

Check ALL hoses!:thumb:

i have kept the old fuel pump on there that was on the car when it was 1.2i i also have the mechanical one running on there to that came with the 1.4 engine i have no leaks in pipes as i have checked them all also it does run ok when its idle but when the engine is got warm and the its idle it seems to cut out so could it be the fuel pump if i just take it ut completely and change it for a hose do you think this will solve my problem

Yes, get rid of the electrical pump entirely.
