Rubber Or Cork Gasket

ive recently asked a chap about a rubber gasket fitting my motor but he was saying if it uses a cork type gasket then the rubber one may not be sufficient
i thought you could use both rubber or cork with the rubber type gasket being the better of the two.

The cork gasket wont fit the sri cam cover, as the cover has a recess for the rubber gasket seal to sit in.
