Got a couple of problem with my nova td that i hope someone can help me to sort them out. Firstly, when i start the car from cold it starts up first time no problem but when i've driven it alittle while and its warm then i have problems starting it. I've been told it could be a bad earth, dodgy battery or the alternators knackered because it seems that it might be overcharging the battery because when im driving it seems that the lights get brighter. Secondly, the fuel gauge is giving me wrong readings the car has fuel in it but the gauge shows theres nothing don't know if its the guage or the float. Both these problems have started since i changed the engine a couple of months ago.

If you have changed the engine I would go for the obvious and look at what you disturbed when changing the engine :thumb:

The engine was a straight swap a 1.5td for another one.

Change the gearbox earth as a matter of course, they're only about ?2.

Nova fuel guages go wrong all the time, see if you can borrow a spare set of clocks and see what happens.
