My 1st thoughts are driveshaft oil seal.

clean up the gearbox and wait and see which gasket it is, probably the one on the end.

Driveshaft seal is also possible, but the oil would have to travel along way down the drive shaft to get to the wheel

Hmm, how could box oil from the inner cv seal, end up on the alloy wheel?

I was pondering on the possibility that the chap may be mistaken and its actually CV grease on the alloy. Not gearbox oil.

Just a possibility.
