Wide Arch C20XE Euro turbo nova (with pics)

This is attempt no2 to put these up on here hope the all work, i got the car with a crappy glorified toaster under the bonnet, first thing i did was to strp the car from all its 1.0 glory. engine gearbox wiring exhaust etc then i had it A framed to my friends so the project could begin...

once the engine was out and the car was at LM Styling work began on the engine bay strenthening the car, with seam welds, stitchwelds and the motorsport plating kit from chris astley motorsport.

i was a bit of a dick because i prepared it then realised i had not repaired the rust (idiot!) so it had to be done again before i painted it but i have no pictures of that only ones of after the paint had been put on which i will put up soon.

I'd be very suprised if your alternator doesn't rub, recess looks too far down.

That 'recess' is standard! There has been no chassis mod to accept the XE alt!

Shame about the rot around the front panel too!

Isn't that big rusty looking square a cut out? Pictures are a bit blurred.

yea i know what you mean lol, i had the same cut out on my old 16v nova and that didnt rub so i think it should be ok.

I dont know why i think this but for some reason i this this should have a 3.0 engine in the back (do it !) ! Think the car looks hard with those rims and arches, arches do look to be fitted very well also.

I'd have personally painted the engine bay the same colour as the car.

they do seam to be, lol. one of the magnum motorsport cars im told they did the work on it.

only one thing that has to be sorted and thats the rear qtrs where the panels had been riveted on the filler has sinked (over the years) but thats getting all done in january when its painted outside.

BTW: the engine bay IS the same colour as the car when its finished that is lol

well i hope i can get away with it, as i said the old one had the same, if it does in any way shape or form, touch the leg then i will jut wip the engine down one weekend and re-do the leg lol, fingers crossed though

Wow this is my fella's old car he put the borbets on and wide arches always intended to do the engine swap but never got to it!
Heard all this was going on but hadn't seen any of it ... brilliant its what the car desrves ... keep up with the updates hope to see you at PV in June in it x
