I have the chance to fit a 1.4 16v engine from a Corsa Sport into my Nova merit (1.2 Carbd Engine) and woz wondering how difficult this conversion would be?

has anyone on here dun an ecotec conversion before and if so how difficult did you find it??

The problems ive been told i could cum accross are:

1. The immobiliser may not work
2. The speedo from the corsa engine is electric and the nova one is cable driven
does anyone have any advice??

cheers

Ok the immobilser problem is not that bad as there are to options...

1. get the key and reader from the same car as the engine! (and get as much wire off the reader as possible)

2. You can have the immobiliser removed from the ecu (had mine done today)

The other main problem is the engine management as this can be a bit of an arse but not bad enough to put you off doing it.

The speedo problem isnt hard to get around.

If your putting into a 1.2 you will need a GSI fuel pump, gsi shafts and maybe mountings (not sure about 1.2 ones). I think you may even need the fuel lines etc, but as i upgraded my gsi i already had all this in my car.

for less hassle either put in a tuned 1.4 carbed lump, or go for gthe GTE engine with injection, or have it on twin 40's :)

i just paid ?190 for my ecu to be cleared. i would think that is worth the hassle but the choice is yours
