Std spec for a 1.3SR was 0-60 in 10.6s, aren't aiming very high!

Depend on how far you want to go!

1.4 block with 1.4 sri head (they have bigger valves) or a 1300 sr head..

you could put a fast road/rally cam in it too and a weber 32 carb or a set of twin carbs..

should see you way under 10seconds..

what would a 1.3 sr with cam kit and pulley, twin 40's,ashley manifold and system.

it should be pretty fast for a 1300..wont be anything spectacular copared to redtops etc etc..about 100, 110bhp..

what would you have 2 mod to make a 1.3 or 1.4 faster than vts (o-60 7.5)or impossible

21-12-07, 01:14 PM
vtr maybe...vts doubtfull without a big budget

VTS's have cracking engines.

Sri head on a 1.4 block is the best combination.
Tho you will need to run twin carbs then, as no single carb inlet matches the sri head inlet ports.

wat spec 2 beat vtr/close to vts?

ported polished, big valve,
lumpy cam,
tb's
light bottom end,flywheel,
well set up and maybe lightned shell
you could go on for ever

then there's gear box/clutch choice
power is no good unless you can put it down

Standard clutch is fine for that.
Looking at about 100ish hp mark.

It'll be nippy, but not fast.

And for the price of that lot you could fit a bigger, better engine, and get a reliable amount of power, and a **** load more torque.

tom by the time you have got the carbs (with fuel pump, regulator, inlet manifold, alternator lowering bracket etc etc) cam and head/cltuch etc, had it all fitted, got it rolling road tuned to get it spot on, you could of bought my 1600 8v which has all that and more. You would wipe the floor with both of the mentioned cars and have abit of grunt left to play with bigger stuff lol plus its just a fit and play engine with the setup etc already done with insurance helped with the money saved lol

And insurance will be laughing when you declare the new mods to the engine(and that you've added about 35bhp to the std output)

Which you will be declaring, wont you ;)

need 1.3 or 1.4 for insurance and no need to declare engine mods as mostly internal.just lookin for a quick 1.3/1.4 engine spec that relibable, cheap and under 9s 0-60 hopefully?

You have to declare engine mods. If you come on here with the kind of attitude you've shown towards (not) declaring modifications then I wouldn't expect much more help.

The quickest, cheapest way to upgrade the 1.4 is to use the head and inlet manifold from a 1.3. If you want to go head to head with saxo VTS's at the strip/track then start with a 1.6 litre engine, be it 8 or 16 valve.

my "std" 1300 engine runs at 95BHP on northampton motorsports rollers. Only differs from std by +40 pistons and careful rebuilding. It uses a single SU carb.

Remove all the rear seats, rear & front carpet, sound deadening etc, get some light weight alloys too :thumb: keep the unsprung weight down :thumb:

That ^ would be a good start
