BRoadGhost

Think you'll find BTCC had certain regulations on engine output & chassis…

This car doesn't have to adhere to any such limits.

Should be on the road by now, but knowing the man - probably not.

BTW if you're reading this Graham - bet I make more downforce than yours :P

It would be awesome if Pepe was at the 25th anniversary meets this year.

Where better to showcase the car which is unknown to many.

Completly spaced frame rear end with custom leda suspension and no exahust to hoop over the beam... very possible.

Will never be on the road. He'll have to pay back tax dated back to 2000 (date of liability) because it isn't SORN and a fine on top. My mate's just scrapped a sapphire cosworth shell because of this!!

Rick Draper
21-12-07, 11:28 AM
Rick i dont think Grom is exactly strapped for cash so a bit to pay tax would not really bother him.

Its more of a hobby to him, he pushes it further and further and its never finished. I would love the shell, if he was to ever break it i would pay top doller for it.

dan16v
21-12-07, 11:33 AM
i remember reading it was lowered about 180mm, as he re fab'ed the inner rear arches etc! awsome car!

i though it cant be that low either...
if it was the shell would be phyisically on the floor

i'd say going off the pic's 100mm max

dan16v
21-12-07, 02:20 PM
deffo well over 100mm. 60mm on 17's only just puts the alloy under the arch, in some pictures the alloy is well under the arch!
and it is possible as if you look at the pictures the inner arches are totaly re fab'ed and there is no exhaust to pass over the rear beam as its a side exit

Ste L
21-12-07, 06:35 PM
going off this pic with 15's on - it's not that much lower than mine with with 80mm rear's, so i guess it is about 100 rear, and say 110-120 front, and it's nose dive's slightly

http://www.topbuzz.co.uk/gallery/graham_de_suys/b6.jpg

and mine with 80mm's on back

The fact is it can go low enough for the shell to touch the floor.

Understand ste that the above pic was when it was on 15's ~ the sils are currently clearing by the same amount, maybe less ON 17's. Think about it…

Ste L
21-12-07, 09:09 PM
i see what you saying, i understand it could be lowered enough so it physically sit's on the floor, i was just going off how high it is in the pic's :)

BRoadGhost
21-12-07, 09:18 PM
That pic was taken when it "just" had a carb'ed xe in it & was on the road - think the idea from then on was to push it all as far as you can go.

No wonder the years rolled on :)

Ste L
21-12-07, 09:21 PM
will it every be finished - that is the question..

would love to see it on a track day, it would be at home then

BRoadGhost
21-12-07, 09:24 PM
Taking the back lower than the above will reduce wheelbase by about 20MM just from the beam angle alone - The route Grom took to counter this was different to mine & we'll see how each holds up I guess :P

Ste L
21-12-07, 09:26 PM
are you going to carry one your WIP on here, as it's non on any site's i know of ?

I think you over estimating that. Based loosely on an approximated 400mm rear beam, and the fact the standard beam might be about 5 degrees down on a standard car, lowering it 40mm makes the beam straight, increasing the wheel base by 1.5mm, you would require to lower it nearly 200mm to get to close to a 20mm reduction.

I also spoke to Ross(WRC) the other night as he used to see or speak to grom once in a while, apparently lasy he heard is the part of company he worked for was being sold off or shut down, shortly after that he stoped answering his fone and a few months after that it was disconected.. so doesnt sound great... any1 else got more uptodate info?

BRoadGhost
22-12-07, 12:11 PM
The 20MM was totally accurate on my car ~ having the fronts adjustable & set to o.e castor, the base was 2cm short both sides.

Provector is no more true but he'll be back doing bigger & better things with n0bby no doubt ;)
