Don't go on your parents insurance. i thought you were down to ?1600?

Tbh I'm surprised you're even getting any quotes at all considering its modified. I know you don't want to hear it, but try removing mods as a last ditch effort. That may well save you a few quid.

Other that that... try admiral/elephant with mum or dad as a second driver. Limit your mileage, limit your cover (i.e. TPFT with no options), take a bigger excess, ask about a discount for pass plus, get security on the car. Consider paying monthly for the insurance, although in the long term that will work out more expensive it may be easier on the wallet in the short term. Or see if you can get a 0% for 6 months credit card.

There's a few other bits and bobs you can try. How expensive is a sex change op these days...? lol

I'm not going on dads... and them quotes are mods not declared!

I did get it down to 1600 and when i rang them up they said the quote was from end of may and the quotes only last 30 days so i couldn't have that ... and their new quote was 3600.

my mate passed his test 2 years ago at 18 and he payed 3500 for a 1.2 clio and that was the cheapest quote he could get ,

Go on your dads insurance for the first year, itll come in around 1k, then the 2nd year of driving ull be 18 and able to pay it monthly and places like Quinn direct will take in consideration that uve had one year accident free driving and your insurance price will drop loads.
Mine dropped ?500 cos i could prove i had been driving a year under my dads name, i paid at 18, with 1 years driving exp ?1250 on a Nova Sr.

Didnt you also say your mum didnt live in Oldham and had a better postcode? Insure it as your mums address if that is the case. :thumb:

NovaLad
18-12-07, 01:51 PM
It's illegal now isn't it??

Anyway got a quote last night for ?2,068.50 and with pass pluss it's ?1,868.50 so going to prob pay for that tonight and then do pass pluss in jan.

Only prob now is when insurance papers come the post offices mite be closed cos it crimbo :(

illegal! pahh!! the insurance companies who cover you and charge you an arm and a leg for a ****ty nova will try and wangle there way out of any money they might have to pay out, its how they make so much money, they rob poeple blind and get away with it.
tell a few lies to save yourself a bit of dosh.

Stuart

mmmm Fronting and fraud.... not really good advice to be handing out on a public forum.

Makes my ?900 TPF&T for my first years insurance wayyyy back in 1999 seem very cheap lol.
5000Miles is a magic number too ;)

If you have any older friends who have not had an accidents/endorsements in the past 3-5 years are also worth sticking on as named drivers (preferably females) as it hauls the price down.

After the first yer the price will tumble, and after that etc. assuming you dont change the car it will be nearly free lol. My old nova that I had for 5 years was down to ?150 TPF&T lol

NovaLad
18-12-07, 02:45 PM
It's down for 9000 in a year Stu...

JSeymour
18-12-07, 04:46 PM
well put 6000 lol

Adam
18-12-07, 05:09 PM
They will take your mileage btw...
So if you put in claim and the mileage is only the insured limit, your not insured...

As already said, the price rockets down after a few years.
I paid ?1100 on a 1.2i.Aged 18

I now pay ?400 on a 1600 16v converted nova, all mods. Aged 20, 3years ncb. Ungaraged, 6k miles.

Hang on. You've just said the insurance companies will look for any reason to get out of paying, yet you've then gone on to say you should lie about your details? Isn't that a little bit contradictory?

Its not so much uninsured drivers that ups premiums, as there's a central fund for that kinda thing, but young drivers who get powerful cars and crash them. A guy at HIC once gave me a quote (a few years back) for an S14a at ?1400 because they'd had a lot of young, inexperienced people buying them - as they were cheap to buy and insure - and then crashing them, causing thousands worth of damage. In one case, millions worth!

All well and good till you smack into a new rolls royce or something else ludicrously expensive, and then are declared uninsured because you told a few porkies.

Not a situation you want to be in, especially for the sake of a few hundred quid a year lol

Stuart
05-01-08, 11:34 PM
why bother with fully comp on a nova? the extra cost of the policy coupled with the fact novas are pretty much free to fix means its an uber waste of cash.

novautd
05-01-08, 11:51 PM
because it wasnt allot cheeper for 3rd party, like only 30 quid or sumit stupid, so i thought y not
