Ive got a rather large text (honest lol) file coming in using bitrocket on the mac, but i would like to fire up a torrent client on my linux machine so it can do the download rather than have the mac on for 4 sodding days!

can you simply move the downloaded file (thus far) and stick the torrent client and torrent info onto another machine and aim the "save" where the part downloaded file is and have it continue?

Some clients yes, some clients no. I'm not an expert on torrents causes me too many firewall headaches.

This (http://g3torrent.sourceforge.net/) looks like it may do the job for you.

Yeah you should be able to copy the extremely large and legal text file across and point a new client at it in order to resume where it left off. I use "rtorrent" on Linux which AFAIK should do exactly that (checks download progress of each target directory before resuming).

need a CLI torrent client ;) running ubuntu server version (no gui)

but sounds good if I can make the server do the work rather than the laptop
