View Full Version : Trying to save the planet
I have noticed a trend recently:
The leaders of our planet regularly meet up to discuss lowering emissions.
Why do they always seem to fly to somewhere exotic like Bali or Rio to do it, thus running up huge costs by each one of them taking several hundred staff, security & press with them, & burning enough fuel to keep a small country warm for a year?????
haven't they heard of teleconferences or satellite tv or even web forums for god's sake.
Its not like they ever decide something anyway...
1. George Dubya Bush always says 'we are not going to do anything unless everyone else does something'.
2. Europe always says 'Why should we do it if China USA & India won't'
3. India & China don't say anything
4. Mugabe says it is a british colonial plot to oust him from power.
5. the arab states put the oil price up.
6. Some experts then tell us that we are all doomed again & travel to exotic warm places by aeroplane should be banned.
Then they all fly home with a suntan
rant over
Nope that sounds about spot on to me lol

Even if when they have their magical meetings they do solve all emissions, it still isnt going to do ****. Meeting up to discuss the different styles of toasters for sale would help the planet more.
The whole thing needs to be put into perspective. Most of what is done in the UK is not lowering emissions at all, but just shunting them to somewhere else. e.g. Compact Fluorescent Lamps, they use less electricity during their operational lifespan. However, have to be made outside the EU (so that's China then), take in the region of 30 times more energy to produce than a tungsten lamp and then have to be shipped back to China for disposal.
The same thing is happening all the time, biodiesel (non recycled) in the current state is somewhat useless as it takes more energy to grow the crop than you get from the resulting fuel.

we could burn all fuels in the world, or not it just wouldnt matter the outcome is the same

I blame cows for the high emmisions.

Cows are supposed to be the worst emitters of methane, five stomachs and one big ass = a lot of methane, but, humans, trump on average 11 times a day and their is 6 billion of us = a lot of methane, solution, ban ALL trumpetinglol

but then we have a new problem that will arise, spontaneous combustion an that makes a right mess
lol dont start on spontaneous combustion again we got done of wikipedia last time lol

there will be a point where the extra mass in the north america area will result in the planet out of balance an spin into the sun. Do you think they have big talks about combating this problem?
Don't blame the cows!! :(
I bet you all give off worse emissions after a night out and a kebab!!lol
how does the human race cutting emissions save the planet ?? the planet isnt going anywhere, we'll just become extinct in much the same way the dinosaurs were killed
mother nature has had enough and wants us all dead
the trouble with us humans is we are actually very selfish, except the smug twunts who buy a prius, even though an average 2.0td normal car will actually emit less & do better fuel mileage but rich yank film stars won't buy a diesel, they are just stupid custards & far too rich!!!!!!!
If oil runs out, in about thirty years, then the emissions will really slow down & hydrogen fuel cells will take over, then some lad in a lockup somewhere will try to stick a biggun into an old nova.

Ive not had one of them in ages.

so, in order to save the planet we must use as much oil as we can as quickly as we can:thumb:

Its a crazy plan, but it might just work.............
my money is on the supervolcano under jellystone park finishing us off before the oil does.
should we start a thread trying to work out what species will take over next, I reckon ducks have a good chance, they are quite optimistic creatures......
ducks ?? nah its all about the pheasant i reckon - playing along at being pretty stupid when really there hatching evil plans for world domination, thats why rich people hunt them as theyve found there secret hideout with detailed drawings of how to overthrow the human race
Hmm, I fancy a kebab right now
Anybody wonder why the petrol price (at the pump) has gone up even though the price per barrel of crude has generally gone down in the past few months?

Simple.... The british public are just too soft.
well jack, I reckon that the 'war on terror' was actually a cynical marketing ploy for the oil companies, add to that the government restarting the fuel tax escalator.........
I want to know how if building materials have gone up by (on average) 6.5%, fuel has risen by 7% & wheat has doubled in price, house prices have been rising by 5%pa. & the cost of a new car has risen sharply, inflation is still under 2.5%. I failed A level maths twice, yet I know that if everything costs 6% more, then inflation is 6%......

It's all about what is counted, not what you actually buy. The one that always gets me is that housing isn't counted into the figures.

good choice, best thing about it is it will completely destroy north america in one way or another. Its a win win situation.
Another good one is the island somewhere that has a big crack down the middle and when it splits half the island will fall in the sea an create a massive massive wave that will destroy the coast of america again. Unlucky lol
