Nova Rally Car!

hi, bought myself another nova (on my 7th nova nowlol )..

this one was bought pretty cheap for what its got.. it has full 6 point roll cage with diagnol and door bars, 2.5 quick rack, coilovers with alloy spherical top mounts (need a good cleana nd touch up), bilstein rear struts with tarmac springs, GTE skirts, top mounts welded in, sump and tank gaurds, completly seam welded and strenghtened, the shell is solid and strong although it has been welded. The engine i got with it is a 1300 SR, suposidly been bored out with fancy pistons, the head has been ported and polished with highlift cam (still unsure what degrees etc), adjustable vernier pulley and bigger valves.

It has been used in rallying before and just needs a bit of time and work to get it to be a decent little stage car again. Its a good base to start from as all the welding has been done, seat bars are in place, sump and tank gaurd mounts are in place etc etc..

thats us for now, going to work on the shell tomorrow and get preparing for re-spray..thats first on the list. then save up for some nice bits such as bias pedal box, hydrualic handbrake, disc rear axle, polybushes, new seats and harnesses, fire extinguishers etc..also got perspex windows with it too!

unsure what engine will be going in..thinking about the suzuki swift gti conversion!

Swift engine would be cool, eurorallye sometimes have them it. 1300 16v and ally block.

got everything off the car apart from steering rack and column and rear axle/suspension..

took the wheels off today and found it has got new track rod ends and 2.0 16v brakes with ferodo pads..so my front brakes are sorted!

had another really good poke around the car and it has had welding but the good thin is it doesnt need anymore! its all solid, i cant poke a screwdriveer through anywhere! so i have started giving it a bit of cataloy on some holes that were on the bottom of the back quarters..

should have it rubbed down and primed soon ready for paint! cant wait!

the shell is now completly stripped apart from a hub i couldnt get off and steering rack and column..

need to get hub off then its time for re-spray.. going to weld in new seat bars and cut the dash to fit before i do..

na probs a should of came over a bit earlyer the we could of had tha axel painted. its looking good just needs the inside cleaned with a preasure washer and all painted the the big rebuild can begin. keep up the good work can wait to hear her run.

well i am needing some stuff now..

cant really do much until i get seats and side mounts so i know where to weld in seat bars..

so if anyone knows of FIA approved bucket seats with side mounts, a hydraulic handbrake setup, braided flexi brake pipes, Polybush kit for nova please let me know!!!:thumb:

getting there.. got one side of the shell ready for paint and the engine bay/under the arches..
got to fill a few dents on drivers rear quarter then rub down smooth and prime..then i will prime the rear of the shell/drivers side and under the rear arches..
still got parts of the enside to rub down..i hate rubbing down soo much! hope its worth it in the end though.

got bias pedal box on its way hopefully..

and hydraulic handbrake, polybushes, AFFF plumbed in extinguisher kit and handheld extinguisher too..

just need to get some extra cash and get the god damn thing re-sprayed..

thats the only thing holding me back now.. got the new dashboard sitting in and corners cut for the roll cage to fit in..

cant wait til i paint her..

painted my 2.0 calipers..got new discs aswell but they have got wet and got surafce rust on them..they might clean up with brake cleaner and using the brakes..

got a wee parcel when i got home from school today..

lifeline 2000 fia plumbed in extinguisher kit, lifeline AFFF handheld fia extinguisher.. also in the pic you will see polybushes..only got some today as the rest were out of stock..

well its been a long time since i did any work to this..

was busy with me other nova for a while.

so i went and bought 5 litres of Diamond White paint and got the underside rubbed down and sprayed..looking miles better already!

i have sold the cage, tank gaurds, rear bilsteins and hydraulic handbrake also, going for better stuff..

i am going for a full multipoint weld in cage with triangulation to strut tops from Custom Cages and either Coilovers on rear or Grp A gravel setup..

hopefully have the cage in the next month, then there will be plenty of welding and painting..

well its been a while but i am now getting some progress on this..

i have finished school and started work so all of my spare time and money is just about going into this project..

i have got my full weld in roll cage, wrc roof vent, sill strengthening/sill stands, bucket seats and mounts, chassis plating kit, rear group a bilsteins with forest springs, internal gear linkage, harry hockley seat rail kit, strut top plates and a rear disc brake conversion..

here is some pics..stil not up to date though.
