Ok, so after passing my test last november and getting a car
this april and being well excited i start to buy stuff to
make my car bit more homely, seat covers, sun strip, other stuff, just
brought tints, not fitted them yet, which is lucky as some
STUPID OLD woman has just drove straight into the back of my belovered
nova. :x
Smashed the left cluster, luckly the bulbs still work so selotape will
fix that, totaly bent the chassis inwards, boot dont shut properly,
gotta wait till monday till i can talk to claims people. I hope it's
not a write off, It's a mint nova, well was a mint nova.
Has anyone else had the same thing and can give me any info of what
they did and what happened, how long did it take for insurance person
to come look at their car?

oh bolox! Well me dads mate had his car a write off and the insurance company sold him the car for 1quid. So maybe i might be able to keep the car and get it fixed somewhere cheeper. I can use the money i'd get for the value of the car.
Should i claim for whip lash 2morow, say i woke up with a bad neck?

Sue the Old Bitch yourself. Under British law you have a right to be returned to your original state before the civil tort took place. Which would mean having your car restored to it's state before the accident took place (even if the insurance company declare it a write off).

Well it's not quite as simple as that, but go see a solicitor for some advice (the first consultation is free) and then take her to the small claims court for compensation. You can do this yourself without the solicitor (if you need more free advice about how to do this go to your local citizen's advice bureau). It will then be up to her to recover her costs from her insurance company. Which is not your problem.

or............u could not bother with all that pissing around and take it like a man. crashes happen (what do u expect when women r allowed on the road  ). take the insurance money and buy a new nova. take the chance to move up.....get an SR maybe. jsut seems like a lot of pissin around for a 1.2 nova with limited mods :|

well this is where i love my job, guess where i work, Solicitors, im friendly with em all so i can get free advice, as dave says, im not gonna bother with all that anyway, just an unlucky mistake. There's two things i see that can happen 1) Get the car fixed and in working order, all done and dusted. 2) If it is a write off, get the value of the car and look for an SR, love nova's so think i'll get another one.
(hips hurts today, coz i had foot on clutch and got shafted from behind!)

happened to me 2 months ago i was driving across a small mini roundabout my right of way when some fool of a old man (in a nova as well) crashed into my passenger side causing about ?1000 pounds worth of damage its still not sorted as the fool refuses to admit liability. His insurance are taken the piss and my insurance are now using solicitors and they total agree with me old people should be made to retake tests at 50.

"(what do u expect when women r allowed on the road "

Funny - its always been men (or should I say boys) that try to write me off, especially the handpainted Escort (though never a pink one.. ) and Nova brigade - the last one who tried had black polythene stuck to the windows and thought brake testing me on an open road was very funny. :o

Oh, and men with prams, trucks without registration plates, old men and men in Fiat Pandas who try to overtake on hairpin bends because they HAVE to get in front - I guess woman + big car = for men!

Was at work on saturday night (10pm sat - 11am sun) and some bloke who was working with us was being a muppet (looked a bit like worzel gummage). anyway on way home we spotted his brand new fiesta written off up the back of this other car. he must of nodded off whilst approaching the lights and hit the back of another car. ha ha

hmmm some bad news for u - some silly cow went into the back of mine, but with alot of speed behind her in march and mine was written off, assesor told me that if the boot floor or chasis is bent the almost certainly a write off

i got to keep mine for nothing and still got really good value for my car - ended up with almost what it owed me!!!

still gutted, another nova killed!

Hiya Ade, got myself an Astra GTE 16v in the end!!
Its great! I put myself off another nova as i drove my mates GSi and tbh it was too small for me, being 6 foot tall, i felt really silly in it and it didnt have power steering - so went for the Astra and its an amazing liccle car!!!

I love it to bits, but the nova will always be my baby!!!

lol - its not just the fact that im soo tall, its after having the cav too, i got back in my nova and although it was fun, it was too small!

atleast with the astra, theres a liccle bit of room in the back ;)

still love novas tho - they r great cars :D and i would possibly have one as a second car, maybe a project car or something - u never know!!!!
