this is my 91 mk2 nova started off as a 1 litre then went upto a 1.2, hated it being a 1.2 as nobody would take a second look at it and ive always wanted more power, so i went for a 1.6 16v from a corsa its the x16xe type, bought the whole lot for ?450 engine , gearbox, loom, ecu transponder and radiator, only 60, 000 miles on it, cheap enough i think , hope you enjoy, any comments welcome thanks

was sixteen when i started this project and never took dash out to spray underneath, engine bay is supposed to be that colour , aircraft blue, dont want a white engine bay, plan is in about 4 to 5 years when im finished my apprenticeship to competly strip it and spray it, but just giving it a bit more power in the mean time

have my wiring done, but turn the key and nothing is happening, when ignition is on there is no power going to fuel pump, checked all wires and im sure everything is wired correctly, im thinking maybe something wrong with immobiliser, would a flat battery in the corsa key cause the chip to not respond with the transponder maybe :wall: :wall:

the battery will not make any diffrance with the key have you swaped over the transponder aerial from the corsa ignition barrell

anyone able to help me on the above comment,
No, the key isn't powered(my transponder is just taped to the pickup, without the key.....)
What happens when you turn the key?
Engine turn over?
Does the ecu light come on with ignition?

engine wont turn over and fuel pump isnt coming on, thats made me think it might be that immobiliser wasnt working, would i be right in saying that if the immobiliser was working that fuel pump should come on when i put the ignition on, my clocks dont have an ecu light so havnt that wired up, i know the engine is getting power as i can hear a valve or something opening when i turn the ignition on
The starter motor aint wired up then, or your missing an engine earth.
The immobiliser dont affect the starter.
x16xe's dont prime the pump with ign on either.

starter motor is wired up using the nova loom, will have to check the earths, there is also a plug at the back of the engine its a 6 pin plug whit/grey in colour, what wouls this be for, was told i wouldnt need, not too sure tough,
the colours in the plug are
blue/red
blue/white
brown
black
black/red
green/brown ?
That plug is for the corsa alternator etc loom.
Not needed if your using the nova one.
Make sure you've got a gearbox to chassis/batt neg terminal Earth.

19-02-08, 06:18 PM
yeah i have them two earths
Starter motor must be fooked then.
Check the thick red at the starter is 12v./

got her turning over tonight, woo hoo, starter was wired up wrong, silly me, ecu light is flashing so i have to check my transponder connections
nice bet your happy out :P
Check the pickup ignition live/earth/perm live, and blue/red TO the ecu's blue/red.

its alive, got it started tonight, woo hoo, its revvin way up like crazy tough, up to aboutt 6000 rpm, throttle bodie isnt jammed open and plastic pipe to throttle bodie is on and the oil breather for the plastic pipe is on aswell, antone know why it would be doing this
You must have an air leak somewhere.
And its a fooking big one to be at 6000rpm lol
You 100% sure it aint the tb jammed(as its hard to see, with the tb's position on the engine)
Check the rubber pipe thing that joins the tb to the upper inlet too.
Also check the idle valve aint fooked, and stuck fully open, but i really doubt the idle valve hole could supply enough air for 6000rpm,Lol.
paddy138
07-03-08, 08:27 PM
yeah i will check the pipe from the tb to the inlet manifold, will keep yas posted
paddy138
07-03-08, 10:05 PM
the pipe from the inlet manifold to the tb wasnt on properly, sorted it and now its turning over and not starting, immob is fine and fuel pump is working have to check a couple of wires tomorrow
Check the earths on the lower inlet and throttle body

got the dash in on saturday and have the exhaust half sorted just need to sort out a back box, just want to get something that will do until i can afford a full system, took it for a spin today, roads were a bit wet it just kept spinnin :D:D
just have to sort one more thing out before i can take it for a proper spin
the temperature sender on the radiator that tells the fan to turn on, there is no plug on the corsa loom, what should i do here ???
paddy138
24-03-08, 04:46 PM
should i use it on the fan and radiator or just the radiator,
Everything thats non engine related, use the nova loom for.
