does a quick rack make the steering heavier?

i was going to put one in my nova rally/autotest car.. in autotest i need less "lock to lock" but as light as possible..

i dont fancy putting power steering on her..

cheers

its only heavier if you are a pussy...

a quick rack does what is says, makes lock to lock turning quicker as it cuts down the amount of turns it takes to do so.

so it wont make the steering any heavier than what it is now with a standard rack?

ah maybe not so good on autotest then.

i need to get the steering wheel round as quickly and for it to be as light as possible..

i need it to be no heavier than the standard one i have now as i drive with one hand and the other on the handbrake/gearstick all the time.

HONESTLY its NOT noticeable unless you are a total pussy

i use it very occasionaly for tar autotests as they are tight.

but i will be putting a quick rack on my rally car (which i need), the car will also be used for autotesting though..

all i want to know, will a quick rack help me in tight autotests and be better for chicanes/hairpins etc and still not make the steering to heavy?

cheers

how many fcuking times do I need to say it...

you wont notice unless you are a pussy/fag/wuss etc.

Ive jumped into cars with and without a quick rack, its not noticeable in terms of weight (but then I drive a car with a tiny wheel and wide tyres anyway), and the rack being quicker isnt noticeable till you are getting crossed over in a bus stop type bend set

Its a simple matter of mathematics and physics, if you reduce the input required by changing the gear ratios, you change the force required to move the rack the same amount, you dont get anything for free when energy and forces are concered.
My quick rack distinctly made the steering heavier, but only at stand still or when moving very slowly. Mine was added to make Autosoloing easier as my arms used to saw at the wheel like there was no tomorrow. like so: clicky (http://loggyboy.com/Autosolos/AutosoloAbingdon07Videos.htm)

Ive not had a chance to use it for competition yet, however on the road, it feels alot sharper and you dont notice the extra force needed, however on a slower speed autosolo (all 2nd gear in my car), this may not be the case, but im confident it will make a positive change, even if my arms do ache the morning after.

If its grass autotests youl be doing then I cant imagine the quickrack causing any issues as even in the dry, the surface is loose and you never really turn the wheel on the spot, with the combination of the donkey(gaskell) wheel then you should find it works alot better with the quickrack.

To counter the heavier steering you could add a larger wheel, but this adds to the movement required so almost defeat the object of the quickrack.
