Looking smarter now mate
aye im pleased with the results
heres some more pictures i took this morning of my new passenger door and my 4 mudflaps and mesh for grill.
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg228/moffat_photos/IMAG0059-1.jpg
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg228/moffat_photos/IMAG0061-1.jpg
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg228/moffat_photos/IMAG0073.jpg
then started to strip the inside of the new door so it can be sent away to be painted at a later date. then started on my own door which tbh i couldnt be bothered finishing. just need to remove the window winder to remove the door card. then took of the wing mirror.
http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg228/moffat_photos/IMAG0062-1.jpg
then washed the mudflaps and started to fit them to the car, but then disaster, because the mudflaps arent new i accidentally split one of the front ones, so i only have the rears on at the moment.

i agree that tape does finish the bumpers off, however you should have got the thicker stuff. get them from most motor shops.
this thickness...

another wee update
the car is currently sitting on axle stands due to the fact that im painting and under sealing the car underneath.
If your going to be putting it into its MOT shortly, Id remove anything boy-racer-ish E.G the back box. Makes them look more for failure problems
it was a tail pipe and it has been taken off
but cheers for the advice banks
the undersealing is finished
the car had a cutting out problem but was sorted (not major)

my dad got me a cd player (blaupunkt)
DW-Nova
15-03-08, 09:01 PM
To be honest mate i wouldnt worry about messing round with bumper tape, cd players and stickers at the moment, not being funny but the first things you should do is save up for some alloy wheels, tyres, suspension and brakes. you dont need to spend a fortune doing this either, you can get some fairly nice 15" alloys for ?350 to ?400 brand new, suspension is the same, you can get some bilstein dampers for around ?170 for all 4, couple this with some eibach springs or similar and your car will look and drive 100 times better, the same with some brakes, put some cavalier sri calipers or vectra v6 on, you'll be able to pick up a pair of decent second hand calipers for about ?40, plus some disks and perhaps braided hoses and you'll have a decent set up. Not meaning to diss your car mate but it really is best to get the basics sorted first and not mess about with stickers and stereos. good luck with the project.
i agree mate but the problem is insurance, its going to be a first car for me so cant really do much, i got a quote of ?1600 (3rd party fire and theft) so cant really be doing with alloys and that the now. im just going to get the nova looking really clean and maybe a set of mk2 nova sri steel wheels.
DW-Nova
16-03-08, 08:18 PM
Hi there, i am only 19 myself, i bought my nova as my first car when i was 17, it was a H reg 1.4 luxe, i had spax rsx coilovers, tsw apex r 15" alloys a sportex exhaust system, k&n air filter and a Cat 1 alarm/ immobiliser i had the insurance in my own name with zero no claims, the car kept on the street and i paid ?1434 tpft, postcode is GL14, your quote sounds very expensive to me, shop around a bit and i'm sure you'll find better, my insurance was with GSI insurance brokers and i thought that was expensive at the time.
vaughanmc
16-03-08, 10:26 PM
Keep up the good work mate - You decided what wheels you want ?
Corsa wheels or Calibra...or whatever else you have in mind lol
got an update
bought a gsi front bumper and gte rear bumper for 20pound

they need painting a know but i am going to do them grey.
lee coley
27-03-08, 09:13 AM
dont put the gte bumper on the rear, keep the mk2 rear
nah i like the mk1 back end with mk2 front end so im going to keep it
vaughanmc
27-03-08, 05:43 PM
I'd keep it all Mk2 mate - Will look silly
Would need a wrap-around spoiler as well etc etc and it would be pointless
ive had alot of thought about it and im going to keep the mk1 back end with a gsi spoiler
im keeping the gte rear bumper with the gsi spoiler and gsi front
im going to give the car a re-build after if been on hoilday so hers a list of stuff to be done
1. repair rear beam and paint red hammerite
2. find and fir anti-roll bars
3. find and fit 2.0litre brakes
3. find and fit lowered suspension
4. fit a corsa intake with a cone filter
5. fit rocker gasket
6. fit sump gasket
6. service engine
7. change oil
then take it for a m.o.t and if it passes this will be happening
1. find and fir either sri or gsi interior.
2. fit peco back box
3. fit mk1 sr clocks
4. fit and paint gte/gsi bumpers
6. find and fit gte/gsi skirts
7 .fit spoiler
8. fit (new) old skool mudflaps
9. fit gsi window surronds
and then i think it will be ready for me to drive

chav tastic, maybe if it was wheel spinning due to sheer power id be impressed lol
well some bad luck.
the key for the doors, tailgate and ignition has snapped and the car has no petrol and cant be moved or even locked. the car is sitting in the way and it cant be moved.
and the good news.
started to paint my callipers red so as i could see them through the silver wheels. will get pics at a later date. and should have a new key by friday or saturday by the latest.

Aye lad wheres the progress been lol
Stop breaking things!! :)
right managed to get 2 keys cut for the nova put a little bit of petrol in, charged the battery and the first turn of the key it starts, although misfiring like a bitch. anyway i cleaned the plugs and the misfire went away then i moved the car to the top of the garden.
right the serious bit.
im now 16 and looking for a job to fund the nova but might have one by next month but my dad is confident the nova will be minted by the end of the year. he also said there is one thing letting the car down, the paint, so he said the best option is to get it re-sprayed. BUT REMEMBER this might not happen unless i get a job.
so heres the plans
two new wings
mk1 bonnet
any welding needed get done
im aiming for a professinal re-spray in the same colour or maybe white with the fanblades and bumpers in anthrencite.
so will there be more progress? - i hope so!
might aswell make a list of everything i need
gsi sideskirts
euro rear cluster
yaris rear wiper
red bumper tape
centre caps for fanbaldes (cavalier)
60mm lowering kit
anti roll bars
headlight protectors
sri or gsi interour
2 new wings
mk1 bonnet
gm/vauxhall/opel mudflaps (the old skool ones)
clear side repeaters
sri window surronds
the car shall be finished by april next year
then it will be time for sorting out brakes and engine etc
then m.o.t

That exahust cutout looks awful. Make yourself a round template to draw and cut around :thumb:.
aye a might do that but dont think i can mount exhaust any higher than it is
Welsh Dan
03-08-08, 12:23 PM
No need to, just make the cutout not look like a bodge :p.
Like so:
http://www.xen0phobiak.f2s.com/novaload/moffat.jpg
All I did there was remove more bumper.
might just get a standard bumper and dont have a hole
Welsh Dan
03-08-08, 01:44 PM
Or use a mk1 item?
ive got a mk1 sr/gte rear bumper but dunno how it would look
Welsh Dan
03-08-08, 02:12 PM
A 'normal' MK1 one would probably suit best.
or just cut it out a bit more as per my PS :p.
aye all see what a can do. the gte bumper has the perfect exhaust hole for that bb
